Be Still. . .

Our Ladies Christmas Brunch was this last Saturday.  The theme was "Be still and know that I am God".  This was such a wonderful reminder that it's so important - dire, really - to spend time with the Lord each and every day.  The speaker talked about how important it is to "fill up" on the Word of God each day.  It is vital because how can we possibly get to know our Lord if we don't spend time with Him?

I was very convicted in this area because I find that sometimes I let the cares of the day get in the way of spending time with the Lord.  Take this morning;  I had every intention to get right into my Bible and have my prayer time first thing.  I decided a nice cup of coffee would be wonderful while I was doing this, so I went to the kitchen to make myself a cup of coffee.  When I got out there, I was stunned by the mess!  Since my injury, I haven't been able to keep my kitchen up the way I normally do and I've been relying on the kindness of others (hubby and the sons) to pick up after themselves and clean up.  I couldn't stand it, so I started in.  I did get some help from my oldest because I can't empty the dishwasher on my own and I'm very careful about how I move and bend.  Anyway, by the time I finished with the mess, a good hour and a half had gone by and I was exhausted and in pain.  I retired to my recliner where I sat like slug.  I ended up having to take a strong pain pill and fell asleep.  There went my time.  Now, if I would have just gotten my coffee, decided to ignore the mess, and put my priorities straight, I would have spent the time with the Lord instead of dirty dishes.  This is a good lesson for me. . . ignore everything (unless there is blood) and spend my time with the Lord FIRST!

God bless you - Julie

  1. I too struggle with this. When I put Him first in my day...my entire day is so much better. I can get more things done. I have a better attitude...you know, the list goes on. Don't beat yourself up...if he so blesses you with another day...then do it then. Our Lord loved us no matter what.

Glad that I was able to make you laugh yesterday with my makeover mishap...LOL.

May you have a blessed day...take care of yourself and don't over do it.
