Bible Study Review - Chase - Chasing After the Heart of God DVD Based Bible Study

ABOUT THE STUDY:

What are you chasing?

We’re all chasing after something, something that we think will make us happy—comfort, success, a bigger house, or someone’s approval. But if we are all honest, it feels like trying to catch the wind.

A man after God’s own heart… As David’s life weaves throughout the pages of Scripture, we see he was a man who spent his life chasing after God. Chase explores the events that defined David’s life and the Psalms that flowed out of those experiences. Through David’s example we’ll discover what God really wants from us.

The lessons in this study are simple yet deep and very interactive, offering Bible study, stories, and projects to dig into Scripture and deeply engage the mind and heart. God has carved out a space in each of us that only He can fill. So whether you are running from God or working your tail off to please Him, David’s journey will challenge your view of God.

Jennie invites women to explore the life and psalms of David, whose dealings with God are more intimately portrayed in scripture than anyone other than Jesus Christ. Her goal for these studies is two-fold: to draw women close to God and to each other.

MY REVIEW:

I was so thrilled when I was asked to review this Bible study! I absolutely love anything that Jennie Allen writes and Bible study is just as amazing as I knew it would be! This study will help you to understand the life of David in a new way and also bring you into a closer relationship with God!

First of all the student book is really pretty inside and it's easy to read and gives you plenty of space to write your answers after each question. In each section, you'll read a passage of Scripture and then there are questions that you will answer that will help you to understand what you've read and then apply it to your life. Here's a little peek into the student book:

The Leaders book is wonderful because it takes the pressure and guess-work out of leading this study. For each week, she shares what the main idea of the study is to be focused on, the homework discussion questions, when to watch the DVD, and guides you on how to use the conversation cards.

Speaking of conversation cards, these are truly ingenious! As a Bible study leader myself, I wish all Bible studies came with these cards! It sparks conversation and makes the study truly fun and unique. These are one of my favorite things about the study. Here's a picture of the cards and then a closeup so you can see what they are all about.

Don't you love how the cards match the back of my quilt? It just emphasizes how really pretty this whole study is!

Of course, there's the DVD that you watch each week with your group. I just love how open and honest Jennie is! She doesn't make you feel like she's somehow better than you. She just really seems like a really good friend that is coming by to talk with you about the things of God. I just love this!  Here's a picture of the DVD.

All of this comes packaged together in a really nice box that fits easily on your bookshelf. This study is perfect for the Women's Ministry in any church or for a home Bible study in your home. It would also make a great summer Bible study for you to do on your own or with a few girlfriends.

This is a wonderful study, full of Biblical principles that will bring you closer to God and help you to be a woman who walks with God. I highly recommend this Bible study!
