Books, Homeschooling, & Church

I can't believe how long it's been since I posted!! See? My time has not returned yet from skipping merrily away from me. *sigh* I'm praying that this week will be a better week and I will actually accomplish some of the things I've had scheduled for a while!

I'm so excited! I won this book from Barb at A Chelsea Morning!

I am so totally thrilled!! This looks like such an excellent book and I can't wait to start reading it. Speaking of books, I was at Costco the other day and look what I found!!

Oh. My. Goodness. I nearly leaped upon the table to grab my copy of this book. I just absolutely love Anne Rivers Siddons and had been wondering if and when she would come out with a new book. I was so surprised to see it sitting there on the table at Costco just waiting for me. I highly recommend any of her books. The stories are totally rich and lovely and you'll love them!

I just finished this book and it only took me two days to finish it.

I just couldn't put it down. It's part of the Cedar Cove Series by Debbie Macomber and, again, I highly recommend these books. The stories are lovely and there's always a bit of mystery that needs solving. You can start reading this series right in the middle, but they are so good, start with the first book and work your way to this one. You won't be sorry!

Okay, there was my book report for the week! Ha!

We went to my son's first football game last Wednesday night. He was so excited to be a part of the game. He only got to be in for 3 downs, but that didn't matter to him. He loves football so much, he's just thrilled to be on the team! We will be going out of town for his next football game and he'll be playing in the college dome. I know he's thrilled with this whole idea and it will be fun to see him there. I must confess, though, that I hold my breath every day when he leaves for practice. I am just praying he doesn't come home hurt. Football is definitely not easy on a Mother's nerves!

My physical therapy is going well. I haven't seen a lot of improvement in my back, yet, but I know it will take time and I'm hopeful. I have another two appointments this week and I know it's good for me to be doing this. I'm so glad my doctor finally referred me for this. I'm prayerful that it really will help me.

I'm still working on my homeschool plans. We will start school for the new school year after Labor Day. We homeschool all through the year, but will start the new grade then. It's rather exciting to start the new books and the new year. I'm looking forward to spending this final homeschool year with my youngest son. We are looking at going on a field trip to the Grand Canyon in the Fall with our homeschool group. That should be a lot of fun!

Our family has decided to return to our old church. For several reasons, we had left our church about 3 years ago. However, we have never found a church that we feel meets our needs or teaches the Word of God like our old church. There have been some positive changes there and we feel the Lord is leading us back there. I'm very excited. I have always had a deep feeling for that church body because it's really where we all were saved. We had known of the Lord before this, but didn't really know the Lord before we were taught about Him at this church. I like it because there are 3 services per week there and also the Ladies Bible study will be starting there in about 2 weeks. We are thankful for the opportunity to return and to be really taught the Word again.

We have a family of Quail living under our porch! My son let the dogs out yesterday and called me to the back door. There at the end of the porch ramp was a Mama Quail and her three tiny babies! Oh, they are so adorable! They are so tiny, too! I'm just as thrilled as I can be. I love Quail but we never had any here until last year. There was a mated pair that lived on the property and slept in the Elm tree. We never saw any babies last year, but this year, there is a little family. I'm praying that we get more Quail. They are such cute little birds!

There's my update! I hope you had a wonderful and blessed weekend and have a great Monday!

God bless you ~ Julie

You can very easily link right to my email from my profile in my sidebar.

I didn't realize Anne Rivers Siddon had a new book out - I have to get that. She's one of the authors I collect. And I love the whole Cedar Cove series too.
