Our 32nd Anniversary!

Today, my hubby and I celebrate 32 years of marriage! It certainly doesn't seem that long from this

 Last years anniversary

We have had our ups and down, but mostly ups, I'm thankful to say. We have grown closer to the Lord and to each other and that's the most important thing we've done. We have also raised two young men who love the Lord, too. That's even more important. All in all, I'd say that it's been a successful 32 years!

Happy Anniversary to my hubby, David! I look forward to the next wonderful years together!

The Perfect Anniversay Gift!

My husband completely surprised me by getting me something I really wanted. I wasn't even aware that he knew I liked this so much, but he listened when I was talking about it one day and made the effort to give it to me for our Anniversary.

Here's the perfect anniversary gift

Isn't she adorable? This is Pinky Pie from "My Little Pony: The Magic of Friendship" show. I have a friend who told me about this show and, out of politeness, I said I would watch it once. Well, once turned into watching both Season 1 and 2 on Netflix! It is the cutest show - no violence - great message about being kind and loving - and just all around cute! Now you know my secret - I watch "My Little Pony"!! LOL

I'm still a child at heart and love little toys like this. Hubby used to not understand but, as the years have gone by, he totally understands and even indulges me. I love my anniversary gift!

31st Anniversary - How I Met My Spouse Link-Up!

Thirty-three years ago, I met someone who would change my life forever. I met my husband at work and it really was God's timing because I only ended up working there for approximately 3 months. When I first saw my husband I thought, "Gee. He looks like that guy on Lawrence Welk." I was thinking of Joe Feeney! LOL I figured he had a wife and a bunch of kids at home and didn't give him a second look.  He, however, did nothing but look.  Every time I would look up from my desk, there he would be, staring at me! I can even remember calling my mother and telling her this weirdo was staring at me all the time! Finally, I talked to him and found out he was really a nice guy - no wife - no kiddos. He also doesn't sing. :)

We started dating and became best friends. He came over to my family's house for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all the other holidays. It wasn't long before he asked me to marry him.

This is our engagement photo. Oh, my goodness...don't we look young?
This is our wedding. We were married 31 years ago today. At this point, my husband was living in Nevada and we decided to get married when he came to visit me in Colorado. This wedding was put together in one day - yes, ONE day! I already had my dress and veil and with the help of family and friends, our wedding was beautiful. We got married in my parent's living room which is what I had always wanted.
Here we are 5 years later in our first home we bought together. We're standing in front of our fireplace with all the family pictures I hung above it. We don't live in this house anymore but the fireplace is the only thing I really miss about that house.

This was taken three years ago at my youngest son's graduation. A few more wrinkles, a few more gray hairs, but still best friends.

We've had a crazy life (as we all do) but the one thing we have both done that I'm eternally (literally) thankful for is that we both accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior and it has made all the difference for us in our marriage and our relationship. Things were good before Jesus, but things are great with Jesus. He is the bond that holds us together and it's why our marriage is still going strong for 31 years.

Happy Anniversary for my very, sweet husband!! I look forward to 31 more years with you!

Ups and Downs

It's been a good week and a stressful week at the same time.  As I shared yesterday, my husband and I celebrated 30 years of marriage.  My sweet husband got me something so amazing and I was so blessed by his thoughtfulness.  Here's what he got me

I am so thrilled with this.  I had been wanting an ebook reader for a long time.  When the new color Nook came out this year, I was smitten. Not only could I read my books on it, I could also get my magazines on it (in color!) and listen to music as well as other wonderful things.  I have been enjoying it so much! Our library has ebooks that you can check out and download immediately, so I've been having a great time reading.  I also downloaded some free books from Barnes and Noble and one of them was "Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes" by Conan Doyle.  What a wonderful book! I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and have been since I was a young girl and saw my first black and white film of Sherlock Holmes with Basil Rathbone on TV.  Anyway, I really love this little piece of technology and so blessed by my husband's thoughtfulness.

The hard part of this week has been the fact that my husband had a stress test and they found an area in the bottom of his heart where it's not getting any circulation.  They think he has a blockage and will be doing a dye test tomorrow.  If there is a blockage, they will, hopefully, be able to open it up with a stent.  My husband had open heart surgery 4 years ago and I don't want to have to see him go through that again.  I'm praying that they are able to fix this problem easily and for the Lord's healing touch to be on on him.

I will, of course, be going with him to the hospital for this procedure and am praying that the Lord will lift my pain so I won't have any problems and can be fully there for my husband.  I am blessed that I have my sister and sweet friends who are praying for my husband.  Prayer truly does change things.

If the hospital has wi-fi, I will update on twitter how my hubby is doing so be sure and follow me there (you can find the link on the sidebar).  If not, I will update here and on twitter and facebook how he is doing.

God bless you - Julie

30 Years!!

Today my husband and I have been married for thirty years!! Thirty years!! My first thought was to think back on all those people who believed we would never make it. I honestly don't really think there were too many people in our family or our circle of friends that thought we would stay married but we have.  We have had our ups and downs but through it all, my husband and I have clung hard to each other and worked on our marriage every year to make it better.  My husband is my best friend and confident.  I know that he is with me through thick and thin as I am with him.  He has proven himself over and over and been a steady rock to cling to here on this earth.  He is a Godly man who loves the Lord and is constantly in His Word and praying.  I know that He looks to the Lord for direction and guides his family through this wisdom.  I am blessed and am thankful for these 30 years of being married to my sweetheart.  I'm looking forward to the next 30 years with him.

God bless you - Julie
