Honoring the Firefighters from Granite Mountain Hot Shots Crew

Normally, I would be doing the Counting Our Blessings on Tuesday here. However, because of the tragedy that has hit our community, I just didn't feel it was the right thing to do for this week. My heart is so full and so many tears have fallen for these brave men who gave their lives for others. 

This has hit our family hard because my son is a firefighter. It really is like a family. Once you become part of that firefighter family, you truly feel the losses and grieve for those who are fallen as though they are your family. My husband and I have been like zombies around the house today as we think of those families who lost a loved one. 

As the mother of a firefighter, I know the training, the hard work, and the sacrifices that these men made to be on the front lines for us. There is sacrifice on their parts in so many ways. When the tones goes off over their radios, they are ready to go. To protect you and me from the devastation of fire or when there is an accident. I have met so many of these brave men in my community and every one of them is a gentlemen and ready to serve their communities to the fullest.  

I'm asking that you will keep these families in your prayers. Please ask that the Lord would comfort them and that they would find peace beyond all measure. Just pray for them. I can't even imagine the loss they are experiencing or the depth of their sorrow.

Grieving Community

Tonight our community is in grief. 19 Firefighters from the Granite Mountain Hot Shots were killed. We are so sad and in disbelief. Grief stricken. 

I had so many texts and tweets tonight asking me if my son was okay. Thankfully, yes. Our hearts are broken, though, for those who did lose a loved one. The firefighting community is like a family and we really do feel that way. I feel so sad tonight. My husband and I have shed so many tears of sorrow for those fallen. 

We were watching the coverage on the news, but the tears came and so much grief was felt, we finally had to turn it off. It's too much..too much loss. 

Please keep these firefighters family and friends in your prayers. Please pray for the other firefighters that must continue on. Their hearts are just as broken, and yet, they must go forward in their grief. Please pray for our community that has suffered such a devastating loss.
