Fabulous Fifties Fall Festival

Today was our churches "Fabulous Fifties Fall Festival". It was amazing! They had a yard sale, bake sale, craft sale, food vendors, and more! Here's a shot of just some of the things out for the yard sale. You can see to the left the childrens area where they had balloon animals, face painting, and games. Our local Christian Radio station was there broadcasting live! Our own famous band - "Sky Daddy and the Pop Rocks" entertained us with lots of fun 50's and 60's music. My friend is one of the Pop Rocks - she can be seen on the right in this photo.
We even had the local semi-pro basketball team show up! Here's two of the members of the team (I don't think I need to point out which ones!) with my Pastor's wife, my dear friend and my other friend. These ladies in this picture worked tirelessly to put on this HUGE event. I know they must be exhausted tonight!
Here's one of my favorite guys of all time. The man on the left has been so good to our family and has become a father-figure to me. He's the sweetest man and works so hard for the church despite having a lot of health issues. He takes fantastic pictures (see - he always has his camera!) and is really a vital part of our church. He and his wife are like family to us.
Here's my Pastor's wife on the left with one of my other friends. They worked SO hard putting out all kinds of yard sale items and then being there to help people who were buying. It was very warm here today, so it made it even more difficult. Thank goodness we did have some shade!
Here's the three football fans - better known as one of our elders on left, my son in the middle, and my Pastor on the right. You can tell what team my son goes for by the color of his jersey (for those not in the know - he's a Bronco fan - colors blue and orange). He and my Pastor go round and round because my Pastor is a Raiders (cough cough) fan. It's all in good fun, though, and we just love our Pastor and his wife!!
It was a fun day and we are planning on doing it again next year. They have assured me they will put me to work next year! LOL This year I couldn't help out because of my knees and back. I'm praying that I will indeed be able to help out and be in better shape!

Tomorrow after church we have our monthly communion/baptism/potluck, so I'm going to take my meatballs. I would give you all the recipe, but it's a family secret and I can tell you my life wouldn't be worth much if I were to give the recipe out. Suffice to say, they are excellent and easy. I feel bad for some of the ladies who worked so long today and then have to bring a dish tomorrow. I'll bet there will be a lot of KFC on that table tomorrow! LOL

It's been a week of ups and downs. I have two teenage boys in this house - need I say more?

I have so much to do tomorrow to get ready for school on Monday. I do hope I have the energy after coming home from church tomorrow! I'm going to bed very early tonight so I'll be ready for tomorrow. Have a blessed and wonderful Sunday!

God bless you ~ Julie
