I can't believe it's been so long since I posted. Life has been busy here and just finding the time or energy or inclination to sit down and write has been far away. I have days where I'm so tired, I just know I'm going to drop where I stand like a rock. Other days, I have energy abounding and I try and take advantage of those days to get things done.
We have been moving things around in my house . . . AGAIN. I'm so tired of moving things around! However, I think we finally have things settled the way we want them and things will stay the way they are for awhile anyway. I still have a mess in my living room because things need to be put away or displayed. I finally pooped out on Saturday afternoon and just left things. Honestly, there's not a lot left to do, but it's those last little things that seem overwhelming.
Last week I went to my tole painting club for the first time in 4 1/2 years. With all my health problems and my hubby's health problems, I just lost interest in a lot of things. I had to stay focused on getting my husband well and myself, too. All the fun things I really enjoyed doing seemed to go by the wayside. I have been longing to get out and do things and reconnect with my friends and that's exactly what I've been doing. The meeting was a lot of fun and we did ATC's (Artist Trading Cards). I also picked up a box to paint for the Memory Box program and 4 bags to paint for patients at the VA hospital. I love that our group is always doing charity projects. It makes me feel like I'm helping others while still having fun painting.
The Saturday before Mother's Day, I went with a friend I hadn't seen in 4 years to a Stampin' Up party/demonstration. We did two cards and I learned some new techniques. The demonstration was held at a local scrapbook store, so I also got to do some window shopping to see what's new in the scrapping market. I'm amazed, that's all I'm going to say. It was fun going with my friend and doing something creative! We are going to plan a day here to stamp and make cards and scrapbook pages. Hopefully, it will be soon. Both of us are very busy ladies!
Friday, I went in for training on my new volunteer position at my church office. It's really a perfect fit for me. 3 1/2 hours a week I will answer phones, do paperwork if needed and any other office assignments that need to be done. I was so thrilled when I saw the little ad in the church bulletin saying they needed someone. I have been wanting to serve in my church for a long time, but I have to be careful about doing anything that will keep me on my knees too long. It seemed that the Lord provided me this wonderful way to serve! I will start this Friday and I'm very excited about it.
My Mother's Day was very nice. My boys and I went to church together (we have to go in shifts because my MIL can't be left alone here) and then we picked up a Stouffers Veggie Lasagna and Meat Lasagna and when we got home, I popped them in the oven. I didn't want to go out (too crowded) and those are two favorites of ours that we rarely have. My oldest son had his Orchestra Concert at the college, so my hubby and I went to see that. It was really nice. When we got home, we had dinner and gave my MIL a plant and card and a cupcake. I think she was most excited about the cupcake. LOL My family gave me season two of one of my favorite TV programs, "The Virginian" and Laura Bush's new book. I was beyond thrilled. I have been watching "The Virginian" whenever I can. It's kind of my treat for the end of the day after doing everything that must be done. Just love that show. :)
That's the latest here. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
God bless you - Julie

Hey there, good to here from you again.
ReplyDeleteI completely understand about time getting away (as far as blogging is concerned). I've been in a bit of a funk myself.
Glad to hear your able to get out more now. Good luck with your new position!

I've been thinking of you. I am glad to hear you're doing ok.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! I am so happy for you though...you sound much more settled and your venturing out. It gives me hope that by this time next year I too will have found my place in this world. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour mommy's day sounds great...we like those stouffers lasagna's too...they are good. We have them every once in a while...makes a great meal and so easy.
I have never heard of The Virginians...I am going to have to check that out.
Have fun tomorrow volunteering how fun is that?
Blessings my sweet friend,
