Yes, He Can Cook!

When my boys were growing up, I taught them to cook.  My oldest son seemed to take more of an interest in it, but as time has gone on, my youngest son is more interested and even likes to experiment!  He's a very good cook and is always willing to cook when I'm not up to it.

Recently, we started making our own pizza again.  It's so expensive to get a decent pizza out and we decided that we could start doing it ourselves again.  The other night he felt like having pizza and wanted me to make the dough, but I just wasn't up to it.  I showed him the recipe (it's in the Betty Crocker Cook Book, by the way) and led him through the process.  He did great!! In fact, I would say his pizza was perfect. . . what do you think?

He made a pizza with Italian Sausage, Pepperoni and two different types of cheese and then made a Pepperoni with two types of cheese.  They were absolutely delicious and everyone loved his pizza.

I think it's wonderful that my boys are self-sufficient and can take care of themselves, if need be.  It was really part of our homeschooling and I incorporated some of these things into their schooling.  They know how to do laundry, cook, clean, and anything else that they need to know.  I learned those things in school when we had home-economics and I also learned them from my mother and grandmother and those are the things that have served me well all my life.

I leave you with a picture of the artist and his yummy creation!!

God bless you - Julie

  1. That does look yummy. We use the recipe in the BC cookbook too. I did made a few substitutions, one making it half wheat, half white. I also add tomato sauce to the water and add a few sprinkles of chili pepper. Gives the dough a slightly spicy twist.
Glad your shot is helping and I'll be praying that you do get some sleep in spite of the medication.
    Merry CHRISTmas!
