My New Crocs

These are my new Crocs.  Don't you love the soft pink color?  Anyway, in my post yesterday I mentioned that they were a huge blessing to me.  Here's the reason why.  About 3 years ago, my left foot started to really hurt ...so much so that I could barely walk.  I went to my doctor at the time and he told me it was my weight, and possible arthritis, and I'd just have to live with it.

Fast forward to last November when I went to my new arthritis doctor and I mentioned my foot to him.  He did an x-ray and found that it had been broken and that I had a lot of arthritis in it because it didn't heal properly.  Fast forward again to 3 weeks ago when I wake up on a Saturday to find that my foot is blue, swollen and hurts like the dickens.  I didn't want to go to the emergency room because you have to wait so long and with my back, that's just not really an option anymore.  I waited until Monday morning when my now doctor ordered an x-ray and got me in 2 hours later.  He said that my foot is not broken now, but that because it had not been set at the time of the break and able to heal correctly, the arch was now falling and the bones are rubbing against my tendons all the way up and down my foot.  Is there anything we can do, I ask?  Not really.  You'll have to live with it.  Great. He tells me that I can go to the store and get an insole and that might help.  :(

I went home and finally the light-bulb went off.  I remember my sister having an insole made and then she tried Crocs and she was amazed that they were even better than her insole.  I mentioned this to my son who then made it his mission to get me a pair.  He actually brought me 2 pair home.  The other pair, though, didn't have the back edge on it and with my back, I tend to slide off the edge because of how I walk.  When I first put these Crocs and walked, I wasn't sure I would ever be able to really get my left foot all the way in.  It's swollen and on a permanent basis, it seems.  However, I put them on every time I walk, even if it's just a few yards, and I've noticed a difference already.  The upper part of the Croc keeps my foot together (so to speak) and the sole is nice and cushy yet supportive. Over the past week, I've been able to get my left foot more and more into the shoe! Yay!

They have enabled me to walk around my house without horrible pain and for that I'm so thankful!  I love my Crocs!!

Blessings - Julie

  1. Oh, I'm so glad that you found something to help a little. I wear these all winter to help with my back, too. During the summer months, I'm barefoot around the home and wear cheap flip-flops. I need to be as flat as possible to help with my pain.

    I'm still praying!
