The movie, "Rudy" is one of my all time favorite movies and when I got the chance to review this book by Rudy himself, I jumped at the chance! I have been inspired by the movie but the book far outshines the movie in inspiration! If you saw the movie, you'll notice right away that there are some definite changes from the movie to his real life. These changes were made in the movie to make it more "theatrical". So even if you saw the movie, you still need to read the book to get the real story!
Rudy is a part of a large family who loved Notre Dame football. It became his dream to play for the Notre Dame football team, but given that he didn't care much for school, this was really an almost impossible dream. He takes us through his life and how he accomplished this dream as well as the dream of making the movie, "Rudy".
What I also liked about this book was that it brings us up to date on what Rudy is doing now. He is totally honest in his book - the ups and the downs. I love how he is always looking on the bright side of things and how he re-thinks things to go upward and forward.
Be prepared to laugh out loud, but have the tissues handy as you'll shed a few tears here and there, too. I highly recommend this book. I loved it and I know you will, too!
