Book Review - Compass, The Study Bible For Navigating Your Life

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The concept in the Compass Study Bible (Thomas Nelson, September 2013), is one that originated from readers. Through a series of focus groups and research, a need was discovered and reiterated by consumers for a new type of Bible that helped them find answers but didn’t tell them what to do or how to live their lives.

Written in The Voice translation, Compass Study Bible aims to provide a non-threatening package of God’s Word that becomes a companion to the work-a-day person. Compass is meant to help readers become more in step with a biblical worldview by providing points of connection between issues of everyday living and the biblical narrative.

MY REVIEW:

I really, really like this Bible! It is written in a way that is easy to understand and has brought a whole new level of understanding to my Bible studies.

The first thing you notice when you open it up is the easy-to-read text. The next thing you'll notice is the names of the people who are speaking in that particular passage! This makes understanding who is talking so easy!  It really gives you a whole new way to understand the Bible.

Here's a picture of the inside of the Bible:

At the top right, you can see the shaded box. These boxes are packed with historical and helpful information that will bring more depth and understanding to your studying of the Bible. There are also introductions at the beginning of every book to give you insight to the book you're about to read. There are also dark, bold paragraphs that give vital information as you read along. I found this especially helpful as it guided me through what I was reading.

This is a hard-bound Bible and the cover is really nice.

The compass is embossed into the cover and the quality of the cover feels high quality. It almost feels soft. It's really nice for a hard-bound Bible.

There is also a reading plan in the Bible as well as a Topical Guide to the Scriptures in the back. Nice maps are also in the back to give you a reference to where the people are you're reading about.

"The Voice" translation of this Bible just makes is so easy to read. You'll find yourself reading on and on because you have a full understanding of what's happening. I really enjoyed that the most about this Bible.

I highly recommend this Bible, and at $19.99, how could you possibly go wrong? It's a must have Bible!
