I Love Old Books!

I love old books. They are so amazing in their texture and their detail. I can't imagine my life without books and all the wonderful stories and guidance inside. My favorite type of books is a mystery or suspense book. I love all the wonderful Christian books we're seeing with this type of genre. I also love the great Christian books that lead us to Jesus. I have some favorite authors - Beth Moore, Elizabeth, George, Catherine Martin - but there are so many great Christian books out there that just amaze and bless me.

The old books, though...oh, what can I say? Books were so important to people as a form of education and escape, they really put a lot of thought into how they were printed, the illustrations, the binding, are all works of art. There were no movies, no television - there were books.

I wanted to share a photo of a couple of my shelves of old books. There are a few new ones on there that look old, as well, like my Sherlock Holmes set. If you have never read the Sherlock Holmes books, do so! They are so excellent and the stories are just timeless.

Look at all the colors of the covers! The old, cloth covers are just so beautiful. Some of my books look pretty beat up, but I think they were just well loved. How many times were these books opened and read? How many hands held these books?

Here is one of my very favorite books - just for it's beauty. Look at that painting on the front. Just amazing and wonderful!

I have never read this book, but I will someday. I just love looking at it!

Here's a picture of my corner of books in my family room. This has to be one of my most favorite areas of my home. Just looking at those books makes me happy.

I also love that lamp and little table in the corner. I love roses and this room as all my rose paintings and other rose items in it. This lamp is one of my very favorites.
