Book Review - Buried Beneath the Words

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Words! Words! Words!
Words all over the place. Accusing, blaming, and degrading words are the worst of all. After hearing those words over and over again, we begin to feel the weight of them threatening to crush the very life out of us.

Buried Beneath the Words cleverly shares a true life story about the different ways someone can end up buried beneath the weight of negative words. Then it shares a Christian course for how God's word can revive us. By putting the advice given within these pages into practice, you will experience an awakening of the real you---the you that has been buried way too long.

MY REVIEW:

Like the author, I live with words that have been "spoken over" me since I was a child. I'm sure many of you can relate. Family and friends have the ability to crush our spirits and make us believe the negative things that they say about us. This book gives us the help to move beyond all this!

Betel shares her own beliefs she had about herself because of things that people had said about her, especially as a child. She shares how it can be difficult to get past this stuff unless we depend on God to help us.

I really like books that give us a chance to participate. At the end of many of the chapters, there are questions that we can ask our self and then there's enough space to really write it all out. I like that there's enough room to write our thoughts and answers to these questions.

She shares Scripture after Scripture to help us see ourselves how God sees us. She advises speaking these to ourselves to replace all that negative stuff. She also tells us we need to be grounded in God and it just really wonderfully Biblical.

I gained so much from this book. I definitely recommend it to anyone, but especially to those of you that are struggling with negative thoughts or feelings about yourself. This book is very helpful in moving on into God's light! I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
