Book Review - The Beauty of Grace

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In this hectic life, it's easy to forget that God is always near at hand, even though He sends us frequent reminders. The beauty amid the mess, a well-timed word of encouragement from a friend, the memories that won't let go of our hearts--they're all ways God extends an open hand to us. But if we're not paying attention, we can miss it.

Combining heartfelt stories from some of today's foremost writers with Dawn's stunning photography of God's incredible creation, The Beauty of Grace is your haven of calm contemplation amid the chaos. This inspiring collection includes stories of cultivating friendship, waiting on God, choosing joy, staying connected, learning to trust, and much more.

If you're in need of a little peace, a little quiet, a little beauty, find comfort in this: you're invited to experience them all within the pages of this soul-stirring book.

"With your eyes, your mind, and your heart, enter this space where you're wanted and loved, chosen and cherished, known and held dear. Rest for a while, friend . . . and reclaim the wonder of how much you're loved."--from the foreword by Holley Gerth, bestselling author of You're Already Amazing

"This beautiful book is like a spa for your soul. Read a chapter a day to rediscover your joy, to brighten your morning, or to give yourself a dose of peace at day's end. With stunning photos and vulnerable stories from some of my favorite writers, The Beauty of Grace is a needed invitation to slow down and remember how much we are loved by God."
--Jennifer Dukes Lee, author of Love Idol: Letting Go of Your Need for Approval--and Seeing Yourself through God's Eyes

MY REVIEW:

This is one of the most encouraging, uplifting books I've read in a very long time. It touched my heart and my spirit in so many ways.

"The Beauty of Grace" is filled with inspirational stories from some of my favorite Christian women authors. I found my eyes filled with tears many times throughout this book because it ministered to my heart so greatly. The one story that just stands out to me is by Sara Frankl called "It's Not About Me". Like me, she lives with health and pain issues and instead of being angry with God, she realizes that God can, and does, use her life. I was especially struck with this sentence, "But it doesn't mean I was given this illness to teach me something." Oh, my. This was such a God thing for me as I have been wondering if God has given me my circumstances because I did something wrong or He's trying to teach me something. I realize, through Sara, that it's about how God can use my life. This is just one of many of the wonderful things this book has to share.

You will definitely find many things that will encourage you. I really had a hard time putting this book down because I was so ministered to. Not only are the stories wonderful, the photos by Dawn Camp are amazing and so beautiful! This book is in my quiet time basket now as I am using it as a devotional each day. I also refer to it when I'm having a hard time and need some encouragement and a reminder that God loves me.

That's what this book is really about. God's love for us. His Grace, His love, and His forgiveness. We can live a life full of grace because we have the Lord in our life.  I highly recommend this book and hope that you'll get a copy as it's really a must have book for every woman! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
