Book Review - Playing the Part

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Lucetta Plum is an actress on the rise in New York City, but is forced to abandon her starring role when a fan's interest turns threatening. Lucetta's widowed friend, Abigail Hart, is delighted at the opportunity to meddle in Lucetta's life and promptly whisks her away to her grandson's estate to hide out.

Bram Haverstein may appear to simply be a somewhat eccentric gentleman of means, but a mysterious career and a secret fascination with a certain actress mean there's much more to him than society knows.

Lucetta, who has no interest in Abigail's matchmaking machinations, has the best intentions of remaining cordial but coolly distant to Bram. But when she can't ignore the strange and mysterious things going on in his house, it'll take more than good intentions to keep her from trying to discover who Bram is behind the part he plays.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jen Turano, author of the Ladies of Distinction series and the A Class of Their Own series, is a graduate of the University of Akron. She is a member of ACFW and lives in a suburb of Denver, Colorado.

MY REVIEW:

This is another delightful book by Jen Turano who writes with humor and has complex characters that you will delight in. Jen Turano is one of my favorite authors because her stories just grab you and won't let go, even after you've closed that back cover. This was another one that I read in one sitting!

Lucetta is an excellent actress who has a wonderful body guard that protects her but also has such a soft heart that you can't help but love him. She finds herself with a fan who is stalking her and needs to get away. This is where she ends up at Ravenwood, the estate of Bram Haverstein. The combination of Lucetta and Bram together is like two huge egos trying to fight for the same air. This lends itself very nicely to Jen's wonderful sense of humor and a plot with tons of twists! There are a lot of mysterious things happening at Ravenwood, too, so you have a tremendous amount of crazy things going on at once.

I really enjoyed the mystery of this book and the moments where you find yourself laughing out loud. It's a wonderful combination and not all authors can pull this off with such great success but Jen can.

I loved this book! I urge you to pick a copy of this book up. You'll love is as much as I did!!
