Book Review - Deadly Proof

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Tapped as lead counsel in a corporate cover-up lawsuit against Mason Pharmaceutical, Kate Sullivan knows this case could make her career. What really drives her, though, is getting justice for the victims whose lives were ruined by the company's dangerous new drug. But when a whistleblower turns up dead, it paints a target on the back of everyone involved.

Former Army Ranger turned private investigator Landon James steps in to handle security for Kate. He's still haunted by mistakes in his past and is determined never to let something like that happen again. But it soon appears someone is willing to do anything--even commit murder--to keep the case from going to trial.

As danger closes in, Landon can't help but admire Kate's courage and resolve--but will her determination not to back down become too great of a risk?

MY REVIEW:

This is a great suspenseful story that I just couldn’t put down.

Kate is an attorney that fights for victims that find themselves in dire situations due to the neglect of others. In this story, she’s fighting for those that took a pharmaceutical drug that caused brain tumors and death. There are high stakes for everyone involved and soon Kate finds herself in danger.

She hires Landon to do some private investigative work but it soon becomes clear that he needs to be protecting her life as well. He also brings in his friends who are a security team. They are much needed when Kate is physically attacked and important papers go missing from her office.

I really liked the complexity of not only the story but of the characters. Ethan, who is the opposing counsel against Kate, finds himself wrestling with his conscience when he knows there are things going on that aren’t ethical yet he wants to further his career. I really liked the characters that did the right thing despite the consequences to their careers and lives.

This story had me until the end with the surprise ending of who was behind everything. I enjoyed this book so much and I know you will, too. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
