Book Review - Hurt Road by Mark Lee

ABOUT THE BOOK:

For Third Day guitarist Mark Lee, the road to success was not without missteps and surprises along the way. Hurt Road is the story of a young man who found in music a refuge from the uncertainties of life. Who set out to discover a better way to live than constantly struggling to make sure life turned out the way he planned. Who stopped substituting what's next for what's now. And who learned that through all the miles between birth and death come sweet mercies--and music for the journey.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Mark Lee is a founding member and guitarist for the award-winning Christian rock band Third Day, with 13 albums and total sales approaching 8 million. An accomplished songwriter ("Sky Falls Down," "Alien," "Show Me Your Glory," and more), Lee has also written for CCM Magazine, Guideposts for Teens, and others. While balancing touring with life as a husband and father, he earned his BA in Christian studies from Grand Canyon University. He lives with his family outside Atlanta, Georgia.

MY REVIEW:

This book is about Third Day band member, Mark Lee. He shares about his life and how Christ has transformed his life.

This was such a good book and I had a hard time setting it down. It is inspiring, emotional and I felt like I was sitting down across from Mr. Lee over coffee while he shared his story with me. He shares about his growing up years and how he came to Christ. He also shares about his dad's struggle with brain cancer and him losing his dad when he was only sixteen years old.

I shed tears, laughed out loud and thoroughly enjoyed this book from cover to cover. I loved how he shares how he over-came the hard things in life through his faith and how he tried to turn the hard things into opportunities for God to use him. I felt so encouraged and inspired by his faith.

I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
