ABOUT THE BOOK:
"This book is your instant invitation to belonging. All you have to do is accept it."--Lisa-Jo Baker, bestselling author of Never Unfriended and Surprised by Motherhood
At one time or another, shifting seasons in family, friendships, employment, and communities will bring each of us face-to-face with the feeling of being on the outside looking in. Because we are made for connection, this will often lead us down one of two roads. Either we will hop on the popular but crowded highway that asks us to do whatever it takes to get noticed or we'll stand still, paralyzed by the fear that we're not important, lovable, or worth other people's time and attention.
But there is another way--the back road to belonging--and Kristen Strong is ready to walk it with you. With compassion and encouragement, she shows you how to remain in Christ and relax into the unique role God has for you. Along the way, you will learn simple, doable actions that will not only help you know that you belong but welcome others in as well.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Kristen Strong, author of Girl Meets Change, writes as a friend offering meaningful encouragement for each season of life so you can see it with more hope and less worry. She and her US Air Force veteran husband, David, have three children. Together this military family zigzagged across the country (and one ocean) several times before settling in Colorado Springs, Colorado. You can find her at kristenstrong.com, DaySpring's (in)courage, and on Instagram @kristenstrong.
MY REVIEW:
I could relate so much to the different situations were the author felt like she didn't belong. There was one story she shared that absolutely just broke my heart for her...plus I could look at my own life and see similar stories in my own life. It was actually horrible and wonderful at the same time. Horrible because the situations are so hard and full of rejection; wonderful because it made me realize I'm not alone in these situations. They do happen to others.
This book shares about the roads that we may find ourselves on that might feel uncomfortable yet God can use these circumstances to bring us into a place where we can bless others and we will also be blessed. She reminds us to stay focused on Christ through all these situations and allow Him to work in our lives to bring us where we do belong. I really love how it has comforted my heart to know that the uncomfortable circumstances will eventually bring me to where God wants me as He refines me.
Kristen shares a special "Belong Blessing" at the end of each chapter. They are so encouraging and comforting and I looked forward to each one. I have also gone back and read them when I'm feeling a little low and need some encouragement. Her whole book is encouraging and it's very Biblical so that's really a comfort.
I highly recommend this book! It's for anyone who has felt or is feeling left out, like they aren't where they should be or discouraged. I found it really encouraging and I think you will, too. I give it 5 stars.
