Book Review - Glamorous Illusions

ABOUT THE BOOK:
The first book in the Grand Tour series, Glamorous Illusions will take readers on a pilgrimage through Europe-and straight into the soul.

It's the summer of 1913 and Cora Kensington's life on the family farm has taken a dark turn. After burying the only father she's ever known, she lost her beau in a tragic accident. Then a stranger comes to call. In one fateful afternoon, Cora discovers that her birth father is a copper king-a man who invites her to tour Europe with her new family. As she travels from England to France, Cora faces the hardships as well as the privileges of assuming the family name. And though now she knows more of her true identity, she soon discovers the journey is only beginning.

MY REVIEW:

This book was so good. It was like transporting to a different time and getting lost. The main character of the book, Cora, is thrown into a world that is so different from the one she has grown up with. However, it's the way her parent's raised her, with integrity and love for God, that will serve her well in this new adventure. That's one of the things I really liked in the book - how her faith is interwoven throughout the story in a real way.

The story starts in Montana, but we are taken with Cora on a ship to England and France. The descriptions of the places they see are just beautiful and so are the clothes. You can just picture all the gorgeous clothes they are all wearing.

I loved the interaction between Cora and her new found family. The dynamics between her and her older sister create some pretty intense scenes. Then there are the men who come into her life. Will is the bear (along with his uncle) that takes their group on their grand tour of Europe. He's a good man who has strong feelings for Cora, but their different ways of life, keep him from telling her how he feels. In France, Cora meets Pierre who is also a very attentive man and protects her from some dangerous situations. Cora is smitten with him but also cautious.

I loved everything about this story. It was such a great book to curl up. I can't wait for the next book in this series to see what happens next! I highly recommend this book.
