Book Review - The Quarryman's Bride

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Emmalyne Knox and Tavin MacLachlan were destined to be together . . . until the tragic deaths of Emmalyne's youngest sisters. Family tradition mandates that the youngest daughter should remain single to care for her parents in their old age, and now that daughter is Emmalyne. Her father unyielding, Emmalyne surrenders to her duty, heartbroken. Tavin leaves town, equally devastated.

Years later, Emmalyne's family moves, and she and Tavin meet again. Their feelings for each other are as strong as ever, but their painful past and Emmalyne's father still stand between them. Soon both families are in the midst of the growing conflict rising between the workers at the granite quarry that Tavin's father owns and operates. When a series of near-fatal accidents occur, Tavin must figure out who is behind the attacks before someone gets killed.

Bound by obligation, yet yearning for a future together, can Emmalyne and Tavin dare to dream that God could heal a decade-long wound and change the hearts of those who would stand in the way of true love?

MY REVIEW:

This is another wonderful book by Tracie Peterson! I love a book that grabs my attention with the first page and doesn't let go even after I finish the book! I absolutely loved this book and read it almost in one sitting. I was so enthralled by the characters of this book and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen to them.

Emmalyne is just a lovely girl. Her life has turned out not at all like she had thought it would. One day she is engaged to the love of her life, Tavin, and the next, she is not. This isn't because of her own choice, or even Tavin's, but because of a tradition that her stern and unloving father is imposing upon her when her younger sister's are killed.

I think the character that really tugged at my heart strings the most was Emmalyne's father, Luthias. He is actually a very unlikable man who is very cruel to his wife and daughter. At first, I just did not like him, however, as the book went on, I realized that he represented perfectly, what we are like without Jesus. It became clear that this man had a lot of turmoil going on in his heart and mind and he didn't know what to do with it, other than to take it out on his family. This doesn't excuse his behavior, but it was so evident that he needed the Lord and I liked how Tracie played this whole thing out in the story.

Redemption, true love, and forgiveness are beautiful themes throughout this book. It's a wonderful romance story but it's so much more than that. I honestly can't wait to read all the books in the "Land of Shining Water" series! Which brings me to the point of letting you know that you don't have to read the other books to understand what is going on in this book.

You'll love this book. The story is exceptional, the characters are memorable, and the underlying theme of how much we need the Lord is wonderful. I highly recommend this book!
