Surgery Update

Hi everyone, this is Shane. I just wanted to update you. The surgery took about six hours and we were able to see her that night. She spent time in the ICU and then has been transferred to a room just recently. She was quite groggy from being under anesthesia for 10 hours but is feeling and doing better as time has passed. The doctor is happy about how everything is looking and blood tests are being continually done to ensure that the artery and incision are progressing for the better. She does have a higher chance of thrombosis and will have to take blood thinners to counter act this. The artery also has a chance of collapsing and is something that will have to be monitored. I found out that the first surgeon, who was doing the knee replacement, only got as far as making two cuts and placing some cement in the knee. This makes the knee inoperable of movement and she will have to be in a wheel chair for the time being. I am not sure when the knee can be finished and we do not have a confirmation for how long she will be in Phoenix. I am told at least a few days. The effects of the drugs have worn off some more and she is on pain medication to prevent any pain. I will continue to update all of you as I find out more. I have read all of you comments to her and she thanks everyone for your support and prayers! Thank you and God Bless you!
