Book Review - Murder at the Mikado

MY REVIEW:

I loved this book!! It has everything I love in a book - first of all, it's set in Britain. Those of you who have read my blog for any length of time, know I love all things English. Second, the mystery was superb...I have read a lot of mysteries and I always value an author and a book that can keep me guessing throughout the entire book. Third, the characters were wonderful - I just loved Drew and Madeline - sleuths in this book; even the characters that were unlikeable, were likeable in the fact that they were well thought out and more than one dimensional.

Drew and Madeline are engaged to be married and she is busy planning for their wedding when a woman from Drew's past comes back into his life to create trouble. Madeline is quite intimidated by this woman and she starts to doubt Drew and their relationship. In the interim, there are several murders, and near murders, that seem to revolve around this mysterious woman from his past. Her husband hires Drew to find out who really did the murders as it seems that his wife has been set up.

The time this book is set in is such a favorite time for me. 1930's England is still about upper crust and stiff upper lips. I love all the British sayings in the book and the author truly made me feel as though I were right there with her characters in this story. I was hard pressed to set the book down once I started reading it.

I also loved the fact that Drew is always thinking about what God wants. He also trusts God enough to know that God is leading him where He wants him to be. His relationship with Madeline is also kept pure and it's so sweet to see a real prince of a man who loves his fiance so much and knows that she is the one for him.

You'll just love this book! It's one of the few novels that I have read that will be going on my book shelf to be read again and again! This book is part of a series, however, I was never lost or wondered what was going on. However, it does make one want to read all the books in the series, so beware! :)

This is a wonderful mystery - full of just that - mystery. I loved that it kept me guessing, I loved the characters and the storyline! It was a delightful book that deserves 5 out of 5 stars!
