We all want to feel valued. We crave approval and acceptance in the eyes of family, friends, and even strangers. But when we seek confirmation that we are enough using the world's standards, it seems like we always fall short. As a result, we cannot believe we are who God says we are--accepted, loved, beautiful, and treasured.
With hope-filled writing and plenty of hard-won personal advice, Carey Scott teaches you how to untangle your self-esteem from the world and anchor it in Jesus. She lovingly shows you that God was intentional in how he made you--and that he is pleased with his work. You'll learn practical strategies to escape the unattainable standards of our performance-based world. And you'll find comfort in the fact that you are not alone on the journey.

MY REVIEW:
This is one of the best books I've read this year. It spoke so deeply to my heart and, more importantly, it drew me closer to God. It deals with insecurity (which of us doesn't have some of that?) and how God can untangle the threads of insecurity. She uses the stories of the women of the Bible to show how God worked in their lives and can also work in ours.
The greatest thing about this book is how Carey shares so openly an honestly about her own life which makes us feel safe to really take a good look at how we feel. She doesn't judge but shares in a way as if you're sitting, having tea with her, and she's sharing her heart with you. I love authors that have the ability to do that.
God doesn't want us to live tangled up. He wants to give us freedom, through his son, Jesus. To untangle the horrible knots of our life and give us security and self assurance. This book really speaks to this and gives us the steps to help us to move forward. We don't need to live up to other's expectations of us - only live as God has called us to live and as ourselves!
I highly recommend this book. It spoke so deeply to the insecurities of my life and I believe it will do the same for you. It drew me closer to God and that's always the best thing, in my opinion. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. You really need to get this book!
