Book Review - 31 Verses to Write on Your Heart

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Here are the words of hope you’re looking for when your faith needs a boost or a friend needs encouragement. Chosen by more than a thousand women as their favorite verses in the Bible, each one is worth learning, worth sharing, worth remembering,

You’ll find verses you already know and love: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). Others may be less familiar but are no less powerful: “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe” (Proverbs 29:25). All of them capture the truth of God’s goodness, mercy, and love for His own.

Best-selling author Liz Curtis Higgs invites you to experience—

A deeper, richer understanding of thirty-one treasured verses.
A fresh look at how these timeless truths can impact your life.
A new passion for memorizing Scripture, verse by verse.
Thirty-one creative ways to keep them in your heart forever.

With a Study Guide included, 31 Verses to Write on Your Heart is a daily devotional and a small group Bible study, wrapped in a lovely gift book overflowing with joy!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I have three abiding passions: encouraging my sisters in Christ, exploring the stories of women in the Bible, and writing novels set in Scotland of old. When I’m not traveling, speaking, or spinning a story, I connect with readers online, take copious photos, read historical novels, watch period films, and immerse myself in research—the more books, the merrier. I’m a lame housekeeper, a marginal cook, and a mediocre gardener, but home is still my favorite place to land. - See more at: http://www.lizcurtishiggs.com

MY REVIEW:

This is such a wonderful book for focusing on Scripture! It's different from any other book I've read about memorizing Scripture and I loved how well thought out it is.

Liz shares the 31 Scriptures that will bless our hearts and that she feels are most important to memorize. I absolutely agree with her about her choices. Some I recognized right away, others I didn't, but all are wonderful reminders of how much God cares about us.

She starts each chapter with the Scripture to focus on then writes about that Scripture. She also gives tips for memorizing - some of which I hadn't heard of and that were very helpful to me - plus an area where we can write out the Scripture in our preferred translation.

One thing you can always count on when you read a Liz Curtis Higgs book is that she is going to share a lot of her own heart with you and that's exactly what she does in this book, too. She shares stories from her own life and it makes the book so much like you're chatting with a best girl friends. Truly, who hasn't read a book by Liz and come away feeling like she's their new best friend? That's what makes her books so enjoyable and memorable, in my opinion.

I love this book and it's helped me to start memorizing these special Scriptures in a new way. I understand what I'm memorizing and gained new way to memorize and remember them. This is truly a book that will transform your look at Scripture and how important it is to memorize it.

I love this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
