Hope grows when seeds are planted-even in the muddy middle of life.
Josiah Chamberlain's life's work revolves around repairing other people's marriages. When his own is threatened by his wife's unexplained distance, and then threatened further when she's unexpectedly plunged into an unending fog, Josiah finds his expertise, quick wit and clever quips are no match for a relationship that is clearly broken.
Feeling betrayed, confused, and ill-equipped for a crisis this crippling, he reexamines everything he knows about the fragility of hope and the strength of his faith and love. Love seems to have failed him. Will what's left of his faith fail him, too? Or will it be the one thing that holds him together and sears through the impenetrable wall that separates them?

This book took me on an emotional roller coaster from the first page to the last. I have read other books by Cynthia Ruchti and she has never disappointed me. I think this is her very best book so far! I loved all the true emotions we feel from her characters and I truly felt as though I knew each one of these people in the story.
This book focuses on the marriage of Josiah and Karin. We are privy to their inner thoughts through this book and I found this an interesting and intriguing way of telling the story. Josiah is a popular and successful marriage seminar leader and author yet his own marriage is not even on his mind most of the time. I had a hard time liking Josiah at first and was quite disgusted at his dismissive thoughts toward the things that Karin enjoyed and was good at. However, this is what makes the story good as we see Josiah work through things as the novel progresses.
At the beginning, we find Karin working in her store, Seedlings and Sentiments, (don't you just love that name?) and there are quotes from her store throughout the book that are really beautiful. It was a very nice touch to the book and kept a bit of focus on Karin and her gifts from God.
I love the story of redemption, forgiveness, and change that we can achieve through our faith in Jesus. Although this book is about a marriage, I could definitely relate to the storyline in regards to any relationship. It's so beautifully written and has stayed with me. I absolutely love this book and encourage you to get this novel as I think you'll love it. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
