Book Review and Giveaway - A Pocketful of Seeds

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In this 365-day devotional, Debbie shows us how our actions are like seeds that can sprout kindness, generosity, hope, and love. It can start with something as simple as a smile or taking an extra 10 seconds to hold a door open for someone, all the way to giving something that is really a sacrifice - like your time on a busy day or money when there is next to nothing in the bank account.

Her belief is one positive action will inspire another. Kind of like the domino effect when someone decides to pay for a person's meal or coffee in the drive thru line. Then that person decides to pay for the person behind them, and so on. A Pocketful of Seeds has a different "seed" theme for each month to focus on. Each day you have a 30-60 second story to read that closes with a call-to-action - a seed to sow that day. Some seeds are designed to fill you up while some will call for a sacrifice.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Debbie Johnson is the founder of DenverWorks - an organization that empowers the unemployed to become self-supporting through job preparation and placement. Debbie is also a leader with Dalit Freedom Network and India Transformed.

MY REVIEW:

This is a daily devotional about how we all have positive seeds to sow and share. Each day is a little story of encouragement or something the author had to overcome or not give up on. Very inspiring!

I love that each day there is a "Daily Seed" for us to consider, think about and apply to our life. At first, I wondered if these would be difficult and unreasonable for most of us to accomplish, but no! They are wonderful ideas for sowing wonderful seeds not only to into others lives but into our own. So many times, I think we as women, forget to sow positive seeds into our own life! I love that the author reminds us to do these things for ourselves, too.

This is a very Biblical book that focuses on the Lord and reminds us that all good seeds come from him. There is so much wonderful Scripture to meditate on and sow into our life. I just love this book from cover to cover. This would make a great Christmas gift for a friend or loved one or even for yourself! I highly recommend it and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
