Show & Tell Friday! Link Up!

As promised, I'm going to share my sweet little project that my husband got me. I absolutely adore this little basket and the scissor holder I made to go on it.

Here's a picture of the front of the scissor case

Here's a picture of the back of it

Isn't this such a sweet little heart button? I sewed it on the edge of the basket topper to hold the scissor pouch on the front.

Here's another picture of the scissor case with a pair of my favorite scissors in it.

Here's the sweet basket with the scissor case attached to the button. Isn't it just adorable?

I'm still working on the bobs that go on the ribbons - one for each side. It's taking me awhile because I'm working over one thread and these eyes aren't as good as they used to be so it's slow going. lol I'm loving the bobs, though, and can't wait to get them finished. When I do get them done, I will share them here.

This pattern is from Old Colonial Designs and it's called Nantucket Opera Bag Accessories Scissor Case and Fobs.

Now it's your turn to share your own Show & Tell! Have you made something, cooked something, or done some decorating in your home? Share it with us! You can grab a button on the sidebar if you'd like or just leave a comment. I'm always so blessed by your comments!

Show & Tell Friday - Link Up!!

How was your Fourth of July? I hope you had a wonderful day with family and friends. We had a quiet day here, which was nice. My youngest son cooked BBQ beans and pasta salad for us and then I had marinated some steaks that were in the fridge and I cooked those to go with them. Normally, we would have cooked them outside on our charcoal grill, but there is a fire ban right now and so I cooked them in my iron skillets on the stove and they were delicious!

My oldest son had to work and he was on the school roof near where they shoot the fireworks off for our town. He was there to make sure no sparks ignited on the roof and to put them out if it happened. He said that it was a great spot to watch the fireworks and he really enjoyed them. We are able to watch the fireworks from our porch so that's what my hubby, youngest son and I did. They were really nice, as always. We are very blessed that we don't have to travel out in the traffic to watch and can even be in our pj's to see them if we want! lol

Now on to my Show & Tell. I have been working on this lovely little project that my husband bought me.

This is going to be a little scissor holder. I'll be honest. This has been one of the most difficult patterns I've ever encountered. Not because it's that difficult, but because the instructions themselves are written quite poorly and are quite hard to follow. I've spent hours figuring this out and, once I am done, will be relieved. In most likely hood, I will never buy another pattern from this company again. However, I do love the way it's coming out and I will enjoy using it.

I've also been crocheting two different projects. One a prayer shawl and some granny squares for a blanket that I plan on using on my bed. It's fun doing all these projects, however, I find that I don't finish any one thing very quickly because I'm going from one project to the next. It's just how I am.

My other thing to share are these

My hubby got me these at Target. Aren't they wonderful? I love jars to keep things in for my crafting or in the kitchen. These are so pretty! I've heard that they are selling them at WalMart individually, but I loved getting the six all packaged up. I will definitely use that many and am hoping they will have them when I want to get one more package. The blue color is just so pretty!

Please share something you're working on! Are you stitching, crocheting, doing a decorating project or anything else? I'd love to have you link up with this post!

Show and Tell Friday - Link Up!

I haven't done a Show and Tell for awhile and I think it's about time! I shared before some of the prayer shawls I had crocheted and here is another one.

I made this one for a lady in my Bible study group who is battling breast cancer. She has had two surgeries and has more ahead of her.

I wanted to make something that would remind her that she is being prayed for.

I also wanted her to wrap it around her as a reminder of God's ever present comfort and love for her.

This was made with my new favorite yarn, "I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby. It is so incredibly soft, doesn't split and I love working with it. Such a beautiful color, too, don't you think?

This pattern is a Ravelry pattern you can find HERE You must be a member of Ravelry to get this pattern, but if you're a knitter or crocheter, I imagine you already are!

Share your own Show & Tell on the linky below! It can be something you made, your decorated home, something you cooked...whatever creative thing you want to share!

Show & Tell Friday - Link Up!

I've been busy crocheting things. Mainly, I've been doing prayer shawls. I did one in the early part of the month for my dear friend who was having a birthday. I'm so sorry that I didn't think to take a picture of the shawl once I completed it. It was a very pretty shawl and she loves it - which is the point. I always want people to feel the love I put into the things I make and I also want it to be something they will love using. For her shawl I used this yarn

It's a white yarn with a thread of gold running through it. I love this yarn because it works up so nicely and is so soft!

The next shawl I made was for a friend that had surgery in the middle of the month. I asked her what color was her favorite and comforts her. We all have a color that makes us feel calm, don't we? I know I do! The color she picked was peach. I didn't tell her why I was asking because I wanted her shawl to be a surprise. Here's some pictures of that shawl. I was so happy with how it came out!

Look in that last picture. Can you see Hollys little face checking this shawl out? She cracks me up! She loves to snuggle on my lap when I crochet and as the piece gets bigger it a battle of who is going to hold the project - her or me. She loves to curl up in an afghan and when she sees me working with yarn, she automatically thinks what I'm making is for her. Such a little sweetie! (She's slightly spoiled! lol)

Here is the pattern I used for this shawl - HERE

The pattern calls for Homespun Yarn, however, I used this yarn (in peach, of course)

This is Hobby Lobby's yarn and I love it! It's SO soft and easy to work with. Once I use up my Red Heart yarn I have, I won't be buying it anymore. This is the yarn I'll buy! If you wait for sales, or use a coupon, you can add to your yarn stash without breaking the bank. It works up beautifully and is machine washable and dryable. Perfect!

I'm working on another prayer shawl right now for a woman in my Bible study that is dealing with breast cancer. I'm hoping it will comfort her as she deals with everything ahead. I also pray for each person as I'm making their prayer shawl, so I hope it reminds them of God's love for them and that they feel the close presence of God when they wear it.

I'm hoping to make some cute little hearts up and fill them with a couple pieces of chocolate for my Bible study group. I made up some of these hearts last year and they are adorable!

You can find the pattern for these cute hearts HERE
They work up really fast and would be a darling gift for someone. You could fill it with something little for your Valentine. Just precious!

Show & Tell Friday - Link Up!!

Our Christmas was really nice! Very low key - just my little family - but that's exactly the way I like it! We had ham, cheesy potatoes, creamed corn and fruit salad. I also put in two pies for dessert. I couldn't believe that I didn't realize I didn't have milk for the cheesy potatoes and hubby was sweet and ran to Safeway (can you believe they were open on Christmas day?!!) and got me a couple of things that I needed, including milk.  I've been a little out of it because I'm nursing a painful knee and I notice it makes me rather forgetful and unfocused. It was kind of hard getting everything put together, actually.

Here's a few pictures from our Christmas day

This was a lean Christmas for us. However, it was such a nice Christmas and we focused on our family and our faith. Those are the most important things. I'm thankful that we were able to have a nice Christmas dinner (SO happy I had that ham in the freezer from Easter!) as I know so many didn't even have a Christmas dinner to eat. I am blessed!

Now it's your turn! Link up below with your own Show and Tell!

Show & Tell Friday-Link Up!

I've been busy making baby things for a young friend of mine who is expecting her first baby in December. It's been great fun as I really do love making baby things. Especially the booties and socks. Here's what I made her

These first ones are verigated yellow/green and white.

Here's Holly checking them out and making sure she approves! She did! LOL

The next pair are a sweet baby yellow.

Is there anything sweeter than little booties for babies feet? Wait until you see the next thing until you make that decision.

Are thes not the most adorable thing you've ever seen?  These were a new pattern I found and they are a new favorite. Look at those tiny little things.

Then I made her a baby blanket. This is one of my favorite patterns. I usually make it with a little hood on the corner, but decided to make it a little bigger instead.

I also decided to crochet it with one size smaller hook which made it a nice, tight weave. She's having a boy so I went with the baby blue. Love this color!

Here's everything together

If you're interested in making any of these things, here's the links to the patterns:

The yellow/green & white verigated booties and the solid yellow booties were made from this pattern HERE

The little blue socks were made from this pattern HERE

The baby blanket pattern can be found HERE

Show & Tell Friday - Link Up!!

Wow. How long has it been since I did a Show & Tell Friday? Way too long. In any case, it's Friday and it's time for a Show & Tell!

Remember I shared that I had gone to the big city at the first of the month? I went to my favorite cross stitch store and just reveled in all the gorgeous things on the walls to look at and all the beautiful things to buy. I tried not to take too long because my hubby and sons were with me, but nevertheless, I still ended up being in there for a couple of hours. lol  Here's a picture of me sitting at the table with all the gorgeous samples behind me.

Now you can see why I was in there so long! That was just a drop in the bucket of all the beautiful samplers and other projects in the store.

This was the first thing that caught my eye and, even after picking out other things, this stayed at the top of my list. It's so unusual and cute! I love unusual things and this fit the bill.

It's a miniature basket with the crockery insert that holds scissors, needles or whatever. Here's the pattern packet that goes with it to give you a better idea of what it looks like.

Isn't that just adorable? It's on my list to do next after I finish my current project.   Next I got this

Love it!! It's a Lizzie Kate pattern (one of my favorite companies) and I love what it says. My final pattern is a cute Christmas ornament from Little House Needleworks (another favorite design company). Isn't this little guy adorable?

Finally, my sweet hubby got me a special present as an early birthday gift. Look at these gorgeous scissors!!

I love scissors and collect them. These are some of the prettiest ones I have and they are even more special because my husband bought them for me. Finally, my youngest son bought me this as an early birthday gift.

I couldn't get a very good picture of it, but trust me, it's amazing. The colors are so neat and look very old fashioned. The poem is about the Lord and that's always something I love. My son actually helped me pick this out, so that makes it even more special.

After we were done at the doctors and our shopping, we went to dinner at our very favorite restaurant of all times, "Black Angus". This restaurant has a special meaning to my hubby and I as we used to go there when we were dating. It's still as wonderful as it's always been. Here's a picture of my hubby in the restaurant,

 My oldest son -

and my youngest son -

We had a great day and it was such a rare pleasure for all of us to be able to go together out of town like this. It is definitely of my sweetest memories and I'm so glad we were able to do it.

Now it's your turn! Share your own Show & Tell and then link up below. You can share a project you're working on, somewhere you went, a recipe, decorating or anything you'd like to share. Just click on the linky and share!

Show and Tell Friday - Link Up!

My goodness...time has flown by since my last "Show and Tell Friday"! I have quite a few things to share with you this wonderful Friday.

Remember this?
See that beautiful rubber tree plant in the corner of the picture? This was taken only about 2 months ago. I always wanted a rubber tree plant as I have fond memories of the huge one in my friend's parent's house. This was actually my second rubber tree plant as I accidently killed the first one by giving it too much water. :(  Unfortunately, I must have done the same with this gorgeous thing as it started dropping leaves like crazy. I decided that it breaks my heart too much to try another one so when my husband and I went grocery shopping, we saw this:

Don't you love those shiny, shiny leaves? Here's another view:

It's a Gardenia! It has actually already grown quite a bit in the 2 weeks that I've had it. Another reason I love it...it loves to be watered. LOL It's supposed to get a cup of water a day although, I haven't been giving it that much since it holds water in the bottom of the pot with a mesh screen over the top. I'm checking it all the time to make sure it stays healthy and happy. I have never had problems with my plants before - I actually have a green thumb - so am hopeful that this beauty will be happy here. I can't wait for it to bloom! The blooms will look like this:

Isn't that gorgeous?! Such a lovely, delicate looking flower. I'm sad about my rubber tree plant, but oh so happy with my new Gardenia plant!

It's getting closer to my new Bible study starting. We're going to be doing this study:

I'm very excited about this study! As I shared, I will be a leader this time and I'm so excited to meet the ladies of my group and study the Word of God with them! I love the small groups and getting to know each lady and have fellowship. It's really a priviledge!

I'm also going to be doing this study. It's a once-a-month study and I have to tell you, the inside of the book is just gorgeous! I love studying the Bible and to have the study book be beautiful on top of it, is just a treat! This book was definitely created with women in mind.

I love that my church offers these wonderful studies to bring us closer to God and really apply His Word to our life.

As a family we are doing this study:

We have been wanting to do this study for quite some time and we finally decided it was time. We are taking this study slow as we are all super busy, but I find it's wonderful to savor the study. It's so great to study as a family and I'm so glad that we can do this together.

So what's new in your life? Please share your own show and tell using the linky. It can be something you're doing, something you bought, something you're making or whatever!

Thank you for coming by!

Show and Tell Friday-Link Up!

Here's one of my latest projects. It's a crocheted dishcloth and I just love how it came out. Don't you love that flower in the middle? How great for scrubbing your dishes or just looking pretty in your kitchen.

Here's a close-up of the flower in the middle
This was crocheted using Sugar and Cream Cotton Yarn and the pattern came from this magazine
I really enjoyed making this dishcloth and plan on making a few more. It was just a really fun project!

Now it's your turn to share your own Show and Tell. You can share something you've made, a recipe, decorating, or whatever! Just link up your post below so we can all enjoy seeing your Show and Tell project!
