"Dream" - Book Review, Giveaway and Author Interview

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Do you dare to dream? If so, you are a results-oriented person. Dream is designed to help you both transform your own life and contribute to making the world a better place. Dreaming is something you do—or should do.

You were created to create, and your ability to dream is paramount and fundamental when it comes to living a dream-come-true life. Dream will help you design a life that is the highest expression of your purpose by creating dreams in every area that matters to you, both personally and professionally.

This book will help you take real steps toward creating and achieving the dreams that matter to you most. It will help you to uncover, or recover, your purpose so that you can live with purpose—and there’s nothing that will bring you greater fulfillment.

Reading this book will help you to fully understand:

• Who you really are
• How you want your life to be
• How to develop dreams that inspire you
• How to look at your life with a fresh perspective
• How to remove fear, doubt, or other obstacles
• How to implement shortcuts and the techniques you will learn

Dream will teach you exactly how to do these and so much more.

INTERVIEW WITH MARCIA WIEDER:

1. What obstacles did you have to overcome to fulfill your own dreams?

Like anyone, the fear of the unknown has stopped me in the past. But mostly, it motivated me to create a doubt removal system allowing me to demonstrate that I more committed to my dreams than to doubt fears or reality. I have learned to become comfortable with uncertainty and frankly, we live in times where everything is uncertain. Learning how to surrender or go more with the flow, and trusting life at a higher level has really helped me navigate through unforeseen challenges and more.

2. How much time each day do you devote to your writing?

I don't write every day but rather when something is moving through me. Even when I have a simple idea or thread I will use my recording device on my iPhone and capture the thought. Since sometimes I "talk to think" this is where I often get some of my best content. I do not have a daily writing practice currently.

3. How did you decide what your dreams were? Had they been long held dreams?

I have learned to define a dream as something that matters to me and because of that I always have personal and professional dreams that I am exploring. I had a discernment practice for many years of saying no to anything that didn't make me happy or feel aligned with my heart. That allows me to create a tremendous amount of space and time in my life. This then lead to greater clarity on what I really do want or my dreams. Dreams that I had in my early years are very different than the ones that I have now. Early on it was a lot about ambition and accomplishment but now it's more about service and contribution. Not an easy path to navigate, but a meaningful and rewarding one.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions, Marcia! I know my readers are going to enjoy getting to know you even better and be inspired by your answers.

MY REVIEW:

Dream is a book that made me think of my dreams and goals in a whole new way. Each chapter builds upon the next to help you focus in on what you really want in your life and then she gives you the tools to help you achieve this.

Part of these tools are questions and identifying statements that help you really identify what you really want and how to get there. She also shares things that we tell ourselves that create negative emotions and thoughts and how to avoid doing this. There are positive statements that we can replace these negative thoughts with. I really liked the exercises that she has for us to accomplish as I was able to apply them to my own dreams and goals and make them work for me.

The greatest thing I came away with is that it's never too late for us to achieve our dreams! As I get older, sometimes I think that it's too late to do certain things, but through Marcia's direction, I'm now excited and believe that there's nothing that can stop me - not even my age. We all tend to make excuses for why we don't make those steps toward our goals and I really liked that Marcia addressed these excuses and gave the reasons for why they really aren't valid.

This book was easily read and understood and I loved the personal stories sprinkled throughout. They were very motivational and inspired me. If you have a dream you would like to achieve, this book will help you identify, process, and work toward that dream and have you believing you can do it. This was one of the best books on goal and dream achieving I've ever read and I highly recommend it to anyone that has a dream. Really, that's probably all of us. Great book you'll really enjoy!

The Other Miller’s Creek Novels
“Miller’s Creek, Texas…where folks are friendly, the iced tea is sweet, and Mama Beth’s front porch beckons…”

ABOUT CATHY:

A Texas gal by birth, Cathy enjoys spinning tales set in the fictional town of Miller's Creek, Texas, where the folks are friendly, the iced tea is sweet, and Mama Beth's front porch beckons. When she's not writing the Miller's Creek Novels, you'll find her rummaging through thrift stores or up to her elbows in yet another home improvement project in the mountain cabin she shares with her minister husband of over thirty years. You can find out more about Cathy and her books at www.CatBryant.com
Here are a few other places to meet up with Cathy in cyberspace:

INTERVIEW:
You will find the interview so interesting! I love how Cathy shares with us how she became interested in writing. As an aspiring writer myself, I always love when other writers share their stories. Without further ado - please enjoy this interview!

What is your favorite Bible verse?
I have lots of favorites, but my absolute favorite is 2 Corinthians 5:21: "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." The absolute best bargain of all time! He took our sin and gave us His righteousness. That just blows me away!

What fun thing can you tell us about yourself that we don't know?
My mother tells me I was born with a head full of black hair. As a girl growing up, it was brown. When I started to turn gray, I colored it red. Then when it got really gray, I went blond. So I can honestly say that I've had every hair color. (By the way, it is true that blonds have more fun!)  ;)

What do you enjoy doing when you're not writing?
Honestly, hardly a day goes by when I'm not writing, but I enjoy shopping at thrift stores. While I do enjoy home improvement projects, they're more of a necessity than a hobby. I'm also a big reality TV junkie, my favorites being The Amazing Race and Survivor. The human interaction makes excellent writer research! I also enjoy hiking, gardening, and spending time with my family.

How did you become involved in writing?
My love affair with writing started at a young age. During my youth, I won several writing contests, on both the regional and state levels. I even worked at the local newspaper for my after-school job. While my kids were young, I probably started at least one new novel every year, but never finished a one. About the same time that the empty nest hit, I was diagnosed with several rare medical conditions and lost a friend to cancer. I realized that if I were ever going to pursue my writing dream, I'd better get started!

I studied books on writing as if I were back in college, and began writing Texas Roads. The book was a 2009 ACFW Genesis contest finalist. I've just kept at it since then, adding four more titles to the Miller's Creek Novels. Other than motherhood, it's the hardest and most rewarding work I've ever done.

Can you use 3 words that describe you?
Hard-working, introverted, and family-oriented.

Do you always know the title of your books before you write them?
Most of the time, I have at least an inkling of an idea for the title, since the Miller's Creek titles all have a journey-theme: roads, path, way, pilgrimage, bridge. The only book title that changed over the course of writing the story was Texas Roads. It started off as This Road Leads Home. (You can actually here a copy of the song my awesome hubby wrote for the book at this link: https://www.reverbnation.com/travisandcathybryant You'll have to click on the play button for "This Road Leads Home.")

What do you hope readers take away after reading A BRIDGE UNBROKEN?
I hope they come away from the story with a fresh understanding of what forgiveness is. The world has really affected our definition of forgiveness, so that believers often don't fully understand it from a Biblical worldview. A scriptural understanding of forgiveness is vital to our faith! I have two favorite quotes on forgiveness. The first is from Mark Twain, who said: "Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it." The other is from C. S. Lewis: "To be a Christian means to excuse the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you."

What are you working on now?
I'm working on the launch party and blog tour for A Bridge Unbroken (see below). I hope everyone will take a minute to click the launch party banner and sign up for the party. The main prize for the night is a $100 Visa Card, but I'll also be giving away books (both print and digital), t-shirts, tote bags, coffee mugs, Amazon gift cards, and bookmarks.

In addition, I'm trying to complete a few unfinished home improvement projects that took a backseat while I wrote the book. I'm also writing a companion Bible study on the topic of forgiveness.

Thank you for having me on your blog. I truly enjoyed it!
