It's been cold!!
It's been cold, rainy and gloomy here. We are getting that huge storm that moving through the Western states right now. They are saying our mountain areas could get anywhere from 18" to 36" of new snow! I don't think we are in that area, but we know we're going to get a lot of rain with this storm. Which I hate. Because we live on dirt roads. *sigh*
If we don't have to go anywhere, it's fine, but we do. Hubby has a doctor appointment and so does my younger son. So. . .we will go out to those appointments. I'm just praying that we don't get stuck in the mud either going or coming. Better yet, hopefully, the big storm won't hit until after we get home from the appointments.
My youngest son has been dealing with some pain for quite some time. He fell while working - about 18 inches - and has been in pain ever since. His doctor has had him in physical therapy, but it hasn't helped. In fact, there are days when he's worse. The physical therapist recommended my son get an MRI, so that's what we're going to the doctor about. I'm sure he will have no problem ordering the test and it will be good to know what's really happening with my son. He has been unable to do much of anything for months and that's difficult at any age, but especially when you're only 18. He has the same kind of pain I do from my back - it runs down his leg and keeps him up nights at times - so I'm sure it has something to do with his spine.
My baking area has been so great. It definitely has me on a mission to do other areas of my house. The only problem is, my knees are really hurting, so I can't do a lot. I will start my series of shots for my knees next week and I'm glad! Once I get all three shots in both knees, I'm in a lot less pain and can do more. I'm always so thankful for that! Oh, it's so fun getting older.
During this cold weather, I've been making hearty, warm foods for my family. One day I made Meat Loaf (made with ground turkey), baked potatoes and mixed veggies. Another day I made Beef Stew with lots of beautiful, chunks of beef; potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions and garlic. Oh my. SO good! I also made garlic bread with my homemade bread. My family loved it! I'm thinking of frying a chicken this weekend. I cook it like my Grandma did and it's so yummy! I'll just have to see how my knees are because when you fry a chicken, you gotta be able to stand over that skillet!
My studio has been too cold to work in. Even with the space heater, it's just so cold, it makes my joints (especially my knees) hurt. So - I went out and brought in all my watercolor supplies. Now, mind you, I haven't done a thing with them, yet, but I have good intentions. I hope to take some time for myself and do some painting. I don't know why I feel guilty when I do things I enjoy. *sigh* I'm working on it. . . .
Hope things are good in your neck of the woods!
God bless you - Julie

We're so thankful that we're in CO this year. Though we do get snow, nothing like what Flag is getting. My MIL heard 45" so far. Yikes. The most we got the 15 years we lived there was 43". Be safe my friend!
