Book Review - Shattered

Shattered - Struck Down But Not Destroyed
By Frank Pastore

OVERVIEW:
Cincinnati Reds pitcher, Frank Pastore, stepped onto the mound in Dodger Stadium to throw another fastball - something he'd done thousands of times since childhood. But this time was different. The batter connected and the ball came rocketing back to the mound shattering not only Frank's pitching elbow - but also his dream of getting "rich and famous through Major League Baseball." As he walked to the training room, Frank found himself asking a God he didn't believe in, "Why is this happening to me?" There was no answer - at least not then. It was this injury that sent Frank, a lifelong athiest, on a journey that would change not only his mind but also his whole life - as a husband, father, friend and troubled son.

MY REVIEW:
I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful book. I enjoyed it SO much. It was one of those books I couldn't put down because it was well written, inspiring, thought-provoking, and you wondered what in the world was going to happen next.

Frank Pastore had a childhood filled with pain - a mother who had issues (to say the least) and accomplished the American dream of pitching in the "Big Leagues". He had it all - a beautiful, young wife, a beautiful home and toys, and children. In one moment, he lost it all when he was injured.

I love how he went from not believing in God, to being an all out for God, Christian! His journey from being an athiest to a Christian was very interesting and shows just how the Lord can take something bad in our life and turn it for our good and His glory!

I love the story about how he met and married his wife. It was funny, touching and romantic. I also love how they have stayed true to one another through all the years they have been married and how they turned their family around and made their generation the one to stop all the craziness from generations before.

I just loved this book and I know you will, too. It's just one, huge inspiring story you'll never forget!
