Sunday Thoughts

Sometimes hearts get forgetful, distracted by the busy and the hard. So here’s a little reminder…

You're loved - high as the sky, deep as the ocean, wide as the world  (Psalm 103:11)

You're created - made by God's hands, one-of-a-kind, soul-deep-beautiful (Genesis 1:31)

You’re thought of - all day, every day, awake-asleep-and-in-between (Psalm 139:18)

And there’s lots more where that came from because there’s no end to the ways He loves you.

Both of my boys are sick now.  I woke up this morning to the sounds of my youngest son coughing like crazy.  My oldest son is still very sick and I'm actually quite worried about them both.  They both fell asleep today and that's a big tip off in knowing that they are very sick.  My oldest son is very worried because he's been too sick to study for his Fire Science class and he feels like he's behind.  I know he'll be fine, but it bothers him.  He tried to read his text book today, but I'm not sure how far he really got.  I think a call to the doctor is going to be in order tomorrow.

I am learning so much from my Bible study.  I think I've mentioned this study before - it's by Beth Moore and it's the Beloved Disciple study.  (This is the study that I was leading at church before I injured my back.)  Anyway, as I was studying this morning, it drove home to me how much the Lord loves us.  He has so much love for us, it can never, ever be depleted! He cares so much for us, his caring can never be depleted!  He is our Abba, Father.  Not only that, but I can depend on Him and know that He is walking with me every step of the way.  That has been really huge through all this pain the past few months.  If I didn't know that my God was there for me, I could not have gone through this.  It's the hope that He will heal me, the knowledge that He is by my side that keeps me going day by day - moment by moment.  To someone who doesn't know God, this probably makes no sense, but it's true.  I know it in my Spirit, and since my Spirit is a gift from God, He speaks to me through it.  Praise God!

I'm SO tired tonight.  I decided to make dinner tonight and tried out a new recipe that my friend mentioned on her Facebook page.  Oh. My. Goodness.  It was SO good.  You have to try it.  It's a white Italian sauce and I made spaghetti noodles and steamed/pan fried some chunks of chicken to go with it.  Can we say yummy?  If you'd like to try this recipe, go here. The added plus was it was super, super easy!  That really important to me right now because I just can't do the big, elaborate dinners.  I have to work, then sit, then work, then sit; and it has to be in my recliner during the sitting part.  My hubby loved this meal and that was the important thing, so I'll definitely make it again.  I made enough that there is left-overs.  I just mixed the leftover noodles, chicken and sauce together and put it in the fridge.  It will be really easy to heat up in the microwave oven.  I could see serving this sauce over shrimp or with salmon.  It's so delicious, it could be used in lots of different ways.  By the way, I doubled this recipe so there would be left-overs.  :)

After I rested for a couple of hours, I decided to make my hubby's Valentine gift.  We are short of money, but the nicest things can be made with a little money, some effort and lots of love.  I made a chocolate cake in my heart shaped pans and then after they cooled, I cut each cake in half so I had four layers.  I made my chocolate butter frosting (I had to really mess with this as I don't have a recipe written down and I haven't made it for so long, I just couldn't get it right at first), and opened a can of cherry pie filling.  Between the first and second layers, I put the pie filling then frosted the two layers.  I then laid the next layer on top, put pie filling on that, topped it with the next layer, then frosted the whole thing.  It's going to be SO good!  My husband was very touched that I was doing this for him.  Again, I had to work then rest, work then rest, but it's going to be so worth it when he has takes that first bite tomorrow.  He doesn't know about the cherry filling and he's going to just love it.

I am now tucked into my recliner for the night, took my pain meds and am hoping they take effect soon.  Yes, I'm in bad pain, but sometimes I have to push myself a little so I can do the little things for my family.  I'm just praying I don't pay for it tomorrow.  I really would like to spend some special time with my honey tomorrow - he talked about us just sitting and talking over tea.  Sounds wonderful to me!

I hope you had a blessed Sunday!!

God bless you - Julie

Hey, if you think about could lead a Bible Study for your bloggy friends...I would love to do a Bible study like that...I just don't want to commit to having to be bloggy land it would be great because we could do it at our pace and discuss it and such. I have contemplated it for a while now...just never felt the push to lead. I am sure you could do it from your recliner. :)
