Book Review - Stealing the Preacher

ABOUT THE BOOK:

A cowboy who wants to be a preacher. An outlaw's daughter who wants to change his mind.
On his way to interview for a position at a church in the Piney Woods of Texas, Crockett Archer can't believe it when he's forced off the train by an outlaw and presented to the man's daughter as the preacher she requested for her birthday. He's determined to escape-which would be much easier if he could stop thinking about Joanna Robbins and her unexpected request.

For months, Joanna had prayed for a minister. A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the heart of her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her dying mother. But just when it seems her prayers have been answered, it turns out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own calling him elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett he ended up right where he was supposed to be?

With her signature blend of humor, history, and lively western romance, two-time RITA Award finalist and bestselling author Karen Witemeyer delivers a Texas love story sure to steal your heart.

MY REVIEW:
The first thing that really stood out to me about this book was Joanna's quiet spirit and her total love of God. I love a heroine that has quiet dignity yet her love for God shines through and Joanna is all of this! Even when another girl is after the Preacher she adores, she keeps her dignity and faith in God. Loved it!

The premise for this book is so unique and good and I loved how the author wove the strange circumstances for Crockett, the preacher, into His greater plan. Don't you love that name - Crockett? I loved Crockett, too, because he lives such a godly life yet he's still a man's man. He works hard for God and for his employer, too. This is especially amazing since his employer was also his kidnapper!

There's someone to dislike, too. Holly is extremely annoying and you just want to smack her as she tries to use her womanly wiles on Crockett. Again, it's wonderful to see how Joanna keeps her dignity and trusts God instead of falling into some competition with Holly.

I loved seeing how Crockett was able to bring people out of their shell by just loving them and loving them as God loves them. His relationship with the boarding lady, Bessie, and the young boy, Jackson, show how we can make a difference in people's lives just by being kind.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a very good romance with a great story plot. Although we think we know what's going to happen between Joanna and Crockett, the author keeps enough suspense going that we're not sure and I loved that, too. An excellent romance novel that you'll enjoy!
