Book Review - The A - Z of C.S. Lewis

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of C. S. Lewis's death, this complete guide covers all of Lewis' works, from his literary criticism to Narnia.
C. S. Lewis's work is widely known and regarded, but enthusiasts are often only aware of one part of his work-his children's stories and his popular theology; and yet he wrote so much more, including science fiction and literary criticism. This volume brings together all aspects of C S Lewis's life and thought. Arranged in alphabetical order, it begins with The Abolition of Man-written in 1943 and described as "almost my favorite"-to Wormwood, a character in The Screwtape Letters. This book will delight anyone who is interested in C. S. Lewis and wants to learn more about him, his thought, his works, and his life.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Colin Duriez was for many years a commissioning editor at Inter-Varsity Press UK. He has subsequently appeared as a commentator on DVDs of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings, and BBC television's The Worlds of Fantasy. He is also the author of The Inklings Handbook (with the late David Porter), J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis: The Story of Their Friendship, and Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings, and has contributed to definitive reference works relating to Tolkien such as The Tolkien Encyclopedia (Routledge).

MY REVIEW:

I am a huge fan of C.S. Lewis and this book is the perfect book, full of his writings and thoughts and really what it says it is - an encyclopedia of his life.

It is written in an encyclopedia form - alphabetically - so you can look up basically anything that C.S. Lewis may have said or written about and find it quite easily.

For instance, you can look up literary critic and find out that C.S. Lewis was a literary critic and it goes into detail of who he wrote for and what his place in this area is. Or you can look up Narnia and find out all about this land that Mr. Lewis wrote about, the books included, and the details of Narnia.

It's just a wonderful book that I found intriguing and so helpful. I loved being able to look up a word and finding out just what Mr. Lewis had to say about it and you come away so delighted and enlightened at the same time.

I found this book just fun to read from cover to cover, however, it is also a wonderful reference book for looking up what he writes about different issues and subjects.

This is a must have book for any C.S. Lewis fan and, personally, I think it's a must-have book for any Christian looking to enhance their Christian library. It's so full of wonderful information on God's Word, you will truly be blessed by this book!!
