Book Review - Evening Prayers by Christoph Friedrich Blumhardt

ABOUT THE BOOK:

We want to turn to God at the close of each day, but often don't find the words to express our deepest feelings. This collection of prayers is one of the few daily devotionals especially intended for use in the evening.

Blumhardt's words bespeak a certainty in God's nearness. The peace that flows from them comes from a firm conviction that God's kingdom is indeed on the way. In challenging times like our own, this reassurance can bring us serenity each evening of the year.

MY REVIEW:

I have enjoyed this book so much. I have read it every night before bed, as well as reading it during the day. I found it especially calming to read these prayers and focus on God just before sleep.

There is a prayer for every evening of the year so before you go to sleep each night, you can read a prayer and meditate on the Scripture that is with each prayer. I loved praying the Scripture as part of my nightly prayers.

The author was a German pastor who lived in the 1800's and died in 1919, however, you'll find the prayers vital and timely because the Bible never changes and that's what his prayers are based on. I love that the prayers are so Biblical and quite beautiful.

I highly recommend this book as a way to quiet your heart and mind before you go to sleep. I keep this on my bedside table and read the prayer for the day every night. It's one of the best evening devotional/prayer books I've ever read. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
