Counting Our Blessings - Link Up!

It's time to count our blessings again! I look forward to focusing on how good God is to us every week.

11. I dearly love orchids but they are usually so expensive! I found this beauty at Sam's club last week and it was only $11.00! I thought the color was so exquisite and the flower so unusual.

The other thing I loved about this orchid, is all the buds on this plant. It should bloom for a long time, which is so nice.
It's such a blessing to have something so beautiful!

12.  Look at this face...

Cookie is such a little love bug. She sits with me every day and sleeps. She is one of the most affectionate dogs ever! She blesses me so much with her unconditional love and her adorable face!

13.  I found out something two days ago about my surgery, that I didn't know, and as my son said, "Mom, it's just amazing that you didn't die that day!" I agree. When that doctor cut my artery, God truly had His hand on me and saved my life (and my leg!). It truly is a miracle! I'm so thankful each and every day for God's blessing of continued life here with my family.

14.  Okay, you all know that I love "My Little Pony". I know, I know...LOL  Anyway, I finally was able to get a shelf cleared off to display all my pony stuff. It took me a while, but I did it! Here's a picture of my pony shelf

My husband and son have bought me most of these pony things. They are so sweet to add to my collection! My shelf is right in front of my chair so I can see my little ponies all the time. Every time I look at them, they just make me smile - and that - is a blessing!

What are your blessings this week? Please share on the link up and don't forget to grab a button! Thank you so much.

Book Review - Authority in Prayer

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Authority in Prayer will show you how to take hold of God's promises and pray with the authority He wants you to have. You can reign in life and be the overcomer God intends you to be, taking charge of your personal world and changing the world around you. Don't allow sin, Satan, or the circumstances of life to weigh you down.
  • Beginning with your private world—your thoughts, body, actions, and ultimately your God-ordained destiny--you can take charge. Authority is yours for the taking.
  • Then, because God established and so honors the principle of authority, He will back you as you walk in the government He has delegated to you for your extended world—your home, family, business, and possessions.
  • Finally, God's plan is for you to partner with Him on the earth in broader realms of influence and authority—your universal world. Jesus, the sovereign King over the earth, wants to rule institutions, cultures, societies, and governments through you and your prayers.
Are you ready to use your God-given authority to further His kingdom?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

DUTCH SHEETS is an internationally known conference speaker, pastor and author. He has written many books, including Authority in Prayer and his bestseller Intercessory Prayer. Dutch travels extensively as a guest lecturer in various venues. He is fervent in empowering believers for passionate prayer and world-changing revival. Dutch is the senior pastor of Freedom Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He and his wife, Ceci, their two daughters and three dogs make their home at the base of the Rocky Mountains.

MY REVIEW:

This book is a really good book on prayer. I've read a lot of books on prayer and this one has some really great points. I enjoyed the stories throughout the book on the intervention that God did in peoples lives. I always find that so inspiring to hear how God has worked in peoples lives. These stories really help to make the book easy to read and keeps you going as it holds your interest.

One area that really inspired me, and where I lack in my prayer life, is praying for those in government. He really makes valid point after point of how important this is. Of course, we always think of the Federal government, but he encourages us to remember the state and local government, too. Everything he talks about, though, he backs up with Scripture, which I feel is very important. If a book like this isn't Biblical, there's no point in reading it at all.

The author is charismatic, and I'm not, so this made the book perhaps more difficult for me to read than someone who is charismatic. However, it didn't deter from the excellent material of the book or lessen the Biblical truths of the book.

I think you'll enjoy this book on prayer and it will definitely help you in your prayer life. It certainly has me, and prayer is so important as Christians. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

Counting Our Blessings - Link Up!

I love counting my blessings. Do you? For me, it helps to remind me that God is there for me - blessing me in big and small ways. Really, are there small ways? I don't think so when they make you feel better and you see God's hand working in your life. I'm so thankful for God's grace and all His many blessings!!

7.  I know it's past Valentine's Day, but I wanted to share some of the decorations that I put out this year. I have favorites that I've had forever, it seems, that I always look forward to seeing each year. First is my centerpiece that I put on my dining room table.

I painted those ceramic bears quite a few years ago and I still love them.

This is my display on my side table in my living room.

Here's my Valentine gift from my hubby! Isn't it adorable? It reminded me of Mitzi when I saw it and it's so soft. Don't you love the little, red heart on it's paw? I just love this little puppy.  What a blessing to have a hubby who knows exactly what will thrill my heart.

8.  Speaking of puppies - look at this girl.

Can you stand that adorable face? She was sitting on my lap and looked up at me. Thankfully, I had my camera at the ready and snapped this picture. She blesses me more and more every day!

9.  I finished my gingerbread ornament! I'm so happy with how it turned out. I'm going to use some gingerbread fabric on the back to finish it off and I'm hoping I can do a pretty ribbon finish around the edge. I enjoyed this so much and it was a good project to get back into my cross stitching.

10.  Hubby got me a couple more gifts lately. I have been wanting a 3-tier rolling cart for awhile but I didn't want to pay the Ikea price. One day I got an email from Sam's Club and they had the carts for $15.00 less! Now, that I could get behind. Plus it was a beautiful teal color. So, hubby and I went off to Sam's club and I got a cart.

This has been such a blessing!! I have loaded it up with my art journaling supplies and roll it from room to room, depending on where I want to work. It rolls very smoothly, even on our carpet, and I love that I can have all my supplies at the ready.

We went to Wal-Mart another day and they had a bunch of their plants marked 1/2 off. I got two African Violets for a total of $1.75 and then found this beauty!

I do love cactus and this guy was only $3.50! It has a ton of little babies and I'm so thrilled to have it. I haven't had a really large cactus for a long time because they are always too cost prohibitive for me. It was such a blessing to find this guy!

What are your blessings? Please link up and share your blessings!! Be sure to grab my button and share it on your blog - I really appreciate it.

MY REVIEW:

This is one of the most encouraging, uplifting books I've read in a very long time. It touched my heart and my spirit in so many ways.

"The Beauty of Grace" is filled with inspirational stories from some of my favorite Christian women authors. I found my eyes filled with tears many times throughout this book because it ministered to my heart so greatly. The one story that just stands out to me is by Sara Frankl called "It's Not About Me". Like me, she lives with health and pain issues and instead of being angry with God, she realizes that God can, and does, use her life. I was especially struck with this sentence, "But it doesn't mean I was given this illness to teach me something." Oh, my. This was such a God thing for me as I have been wondering if God has given me my circumstances because I did something wrong or He's trying to teach me something. I realize, through Sara, that it's about how God can use my life. This is just one of many of the wonderful things this book has to share.

You will definitely find many things that will encourage you. I really had a hard time putting this book down because I was so ministered to. Not only are the stories wonderful, the photos by Dawn Camp are amazing and so beautiful! This book is in my quiet time basket now as I am using it as a devotional each day. I also refer to it when I'm having a hard time and need some encouragement and a reminder that God loves me.

That's what this book is really about. God's love for us. His Grace, His love, and His forgiveness. We can live a life full of grace because we have the Lord in our life.  I highly recommend this book and hope that you'll get a copy as it's really a must have book for every woman! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Review - Heartfelt, A Woman's Guide to Creating Meaningful Friendships

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In previous generations women lived in close-knit communities and encouraged one another in all areas of life, including marriage, parenting, homemaking, service, and spirituality. But in today’s society, we often live far away from extended family, making it ever more difficult for women to establish those same levels of relationships. Dr. Kirby show how to develop connected relationships with other women, glean wisdom through their experiences, and gain a sense of emotional intimacy and wholeness from being heard, known, and supported by women who truly care about them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Dr. Joneal Kirby is probably best known as the founding leader of Heart to Home, a multi-generational mentoring program, now known as Heartfelt Friends. This organization has seen blessings of unprecedented growth over its dozen years of service is now known as Heartfelt Ministries.

She was crazy enough to go back to school at the “old” age of fifty to earn a PhD in marriage and family therapy and now looks back over her shoulder in wonder – “How did I do that?”, because she now has trouble remembering her own phone number. Much less Analytical Statistics.
She started a private counseling practice and then opened up a counseling center to partner with God to help bring healing to many broken hearts and families. Her passion for her faith in Jesus and her love of all things family wakes her up every day ready to do God’s work. Although sometimes she’d like to crawl back under the covers, after a couple of cups of coffee, she is ready to shake up the evil one’s plans.

Joneal is also a talker – a “SPEAKER”. For those who will ask her, she speaks to audiences throughout the country on topics ranging from Biblical womanhood to marriage and family issues and whatever else God puts on her heart. She will travel anywhere to do this. However, her schedule fills up very quickly. There is a speaking schedule available somewhere on this website. And a request form if you want to see if she is available to do your event.
Her unique speaking style combines practical advice and humor - she hopes - along with Biblical wisdom – she prays. Everything she does is rooted in her passion for strengthening families and honoring God’s name. She is humbled her Heart to Home Bible Studies have been used by thousands since the founding of the Heart to Home Ministry in 2003.

Joneal has written some books. Her oldest is a parenting devotional book, Heart of a Family for Mom. And her newest is Heartfelt, A Woman’s Guide to Creating Meaningful Friendships, with Worthy Publishing. She’s excited about this book telling all about Heart to Home. It is full of stories of the women who have been blessed by this mentoring program, and Miss Kay Robertson and Missy Robertson are two of the most wonderfully fun testimonies in the book.

She has been producing a radio show for a gazillion years. Heartfelt Radio is heard daily by her amazing group of listener/fans in her home state of Louisiana. This has been going on since 2005. She has done some television too. It was a great surprise to her that she really didn’t like it. But she and her girlfriends created and produced a Bible study for Legacy Network for about three years called “GIRLFRIENDS”. Dr. Kirby loves radio. Enough said.

It would be silly not to mention this about her. She is related to the family of Duck Dynasty fame. Her sister is Korie Robertson’s mom. They lived and raised their kids in houses right next door to each other. This little known fact about Dr. Kirby is told here only because she is so proud of what Korie and Willie have done in bridging the gulf between the Christian community and the culture by their willingness to be courageous and not only entertain, but to engage the world, in a conversation about Jesus Christ.

Joneal and her husband, Randy live on 130 acres they share with deer and ducks, a few gobbly turkeys, some loud-mouthed owls, some pot-bellied pigs and alligators, and a couple of normal, good dogs. Their daughter and son-in-love live next door with two of their grandsons on this family land in West Monroe, Louisiana. Three of their children and two grandkids live in the next door state of Texas. They love being a part of their church and this Forever Family partners with them to help lots of families and marriages grow stronger. The Kirbys will talk to anyone who will listen about building a courageous family living boldly for the Lord. After four decades of marriage and a full life of blessings and many fun family times, they consider their greatest joy to be doing life now with their four amazing grandsons.

MY REVIEW:

This book is so timely for me, as I'm sure it will be for you. We women long for deep relationships with other women where we can share our heart. In this day of social media, it's not always easy to really make the effort to have those relationships. We find ourselves clicking the "like" button on Facebook and calling that person our friend. Really, though, these relationships are not the deep friendships we long for.

This book gives us the tools to create our own small group and draw wisdom from this book as well as the Bible. Heartfelt gives us stories from women who participated in the group and how it changed things for them in a positive way.  I really liked the stories because I could relate to so many of these women's thoughts and feelings.

We are also given questions to answer and reflect on as well as prayers and Scripture to meditate on. Dr. Kirby's book is so inspiring and I am now so excited about starting my own Titus 2 group. I love that this book shows us how to be a better friend/mentor and how to enjoy the friendship we find with other women. In the back of the book, she shares how to set up our own small group and gives ideas of what we can do together as a group. I really enjoyed this as sometimes it's hard to know exactly what we need to do to set up a small group.

This is a book that every woman really should read.It will bless you so much and give us the tools to create deeper, more meaningful relationships with other women. I really got a lot out of this book and I highly recommend it. I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Find Liz online: website, Facebook, Twitter

MY REVIEW:

"Remember the Lilies" is a book that will captivate you, shock you and draw you in and keep you there. I read this book in one day because I just couldn't put it down.

Irene and her aunt, Anita, have been captured on an island in Manila by the Japanese during World War II. Anita raised Irene as her own after her parents abandoned her. Anita and Irene have been serving the area as missionaries, bringing hope and the Gospel to those around the jungle. Rand Sterling is a rich, nightclub owner, who is also captured in the camp and, when he and Irene meet, it's love at first sight.

The story takes us through the hardships that these people endured - the horrible conditions, the lack of food because it was withheld from them, the disease, and the torture that many endured. I didn't really know anything about this area of the world during World War II so it was very interesting to read about what happened. It was so heartbreaking to see what these people went through!

I really liked how Irene, and especially Anita, shared and lived their faith. Anita truly lives for the Lord and she affects those people around her in a positive way. I love how she is able to lead several to Christ because of her walk with the Lord. I also liked how we see Rand change so much through the book because of his observance of Anita and Irene.

There is a strange twist to the book towards the end that I really didn't care for and found implausible, but it wasn't so distracting that it changed my love for this book as a whole. I really enjoyed this book as a historical romance and found the history so interesting. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Book Review - Return to Exile

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Six years ago, impossible circumstances forced Dr. Lisbeth Hastings to leave behind the love of her life, not just in another country, but in another time. Her work as a top-notch epidemiologist and parenting her little girl helps alleviate the pain, but at night when her exhausted head hits the pillow, images of her beloved Cyprian haunt her sleep.

Cyprian Thascius returns from political exile a broken man. He's lost his faith, the love of his life, and his purpose. He attempts to move on, to face the danger that is looming over Carthage, but when Cyprian's true love suddenly reappears, his heart becomes as imperiled as the fledgling church he seeks to save.

Have the years that kept Lisbeth and Cyprian apart created too wide a chasm to bridge? In the midst of a new epidemic and rising oppression, will their love be the most costly fatality? Filled with gripping action and raw emotion, this spell-binding adventure of star-crossed lovers captivates with every turn of the page in this electric continuation of The Carthage Chronicles.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lynne Gentry has written for numerous publications. She is a professional acting coach, theater director, and playwright. Lynne is an inspirational speaker and dramatic performer who loves spending time with her family and medical therapy dog.

Find Lynne online: website, Facebook, Twitter

MY REVIEW:

This is book 2 of "The Carthage Chronicles" and even though I didn't read book 1 of the series, this book totally stands alone and I was able to understand what was happening and not confused about the characters at all. I do love a book like this as it shows the good writing of the author, that she can bring you into the middle of a story and you don't feel lost. However, having said this, I did feel that the story moved extremely slow for me. I had a hard time really getting into the story as there just wasn't much happening to really hold my interest until farther into the book.

This story is unusual in that it's about time travel. Lisbeth is a doctor who traveled from the 21st century to the 3rd century and now is back in the 21st century, but without her husband from the 3rd. She also has to balance her life as a single mom with that of being a doctor during an epidemic outbreak of measles.

I really enjoyed the historical aspects of this book and anyone who enjoys historical fiction will love this book. I also loved how the characters lived out their faith in Christ and how they had real doubts at times when things got hard. There was a lot of hard times for these people, but I loved how they would turn to their faith in God to get them through.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It's different from most books that I have read and I really enjoyed the contrast between the two times. I got very involved in these people's lives and hated to turn that last page. I highly recommend this book and give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Book Review - The Dandelion Field

ABOUT THE BOOK:

This handsome firefighter makes a living coming to the rescue, but Gin doesn't need a man to fight her battles.

After Raine's dad walked out, Ginevieve Lightly never lived in one place too long, a rambling lifestyle that defined her daughter's youth. When their car dies in Banister Falls, Wisconsin, Gin promises Raine they can stay until she finishes her senior year of high school. Gin will do anything to make sure her daughter has a bright future . . . a future that's compromised when Raine reveals she's pregnant.

Dan Moretti has only ever called Banister Falls home. After losing his best friend in a tragic accident, Dan devoted himself to responding to fires, rescuing the helpless, and guiding Cody Bennett, his best friend's son, through life. With Cody being the epitome of the good kid, it was an easy job. Until he says four little words: "The baby is mine."

Knowing gossip of Raine's pregnancy will erupt sooner or later in the small town, Gin's reflex is to grab the suitcase and escape to a new city, a new life. But with each passing day, Gin's feet stay rooted in Banister Falls, and she falls a little more for this local firefighter who shows her not all men abandon women at the first sign of smoke.

As Gin and Dan do the best they can to guide the two teenagers through their early entry into adulthood, they discover together that romance can bloom in the rockiest of situations. And God can turn the pieces of a broken past into a beautiful new beginning.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Kathryn Springer is a USA Today bestselling author. She grew up in northern Wisconsin, where her parents published a weekly newspaper. As a child she spent many hours sitting at her mother's typewriter, plunking out stories, and credits her parents for instilling in her a love of books --- which eventually turned into a desire to tell stories of her own. Kathryn has written nineteen books with close to two million copies sold. She lives with her husband and three children in Marinette, Wisconsin.

Find Kathryn online: website, Facebook

MY REVIEW:

I just loved this story from page one all the way to the end! I finished the book in two days because I just couldn't put the book down for long before wanting to pick it up and find out what happens next!

Gin is a single mom of Raine, a senior in high school. The have settled in a small town because Raine wanted to graduate from high school in the same school she started her senior year in. They move around a lot because Gin is always running when things get too hard for her to handle. She keeps a packed suitcase in her closet at all times as a reassurance that she can pick up and leave whenever she wants. She has been terribly hurt her whole life and she has a wall up that no one gets past until she meets Dan, a local firefighter captain.

Her meeting with Dan comes about because he is a father-figure for Cody, who is Raine's boyfriend. Cody's mom is a widow of a firefighter/hero and Dan has always been there for both of them and helps them out all the time. Dan has never married and, although he has always had feelings for Cody's mom, Evie, things have never gone further than friendship. When he meets Gin, his heart belongs to her whether she wants it or not.

I don't want to give away any of this wonderful story. It's one to be enjoyed and savored by you alone, however, I will say I loved how the author showed how God is always there for us, even if we think He's not or hasn't been. I love how she shows how God pursues us and what happens if we really listen to Him. I enjoyed so much the different levels of faith that the different characters had. Those strong in the faith showing love and leading those who were just beginning to understand who God is. She also showed the church as a place of flawed people. There are those who were very loving and some who weren't, but the love always shone through and it was really beautiful.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this book. It drew me in, made me care about the characters and you never really knew exactly what was going to happen. I do love a book that isn't predictable! I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

Book Review - Get Your Joy Back

ABOUT THE BOOK:

An invitation and a promise for weary Christian parents of special needs kids from a parent who's been there.

"It isn't the long day of monitoring a child's precarious health or being hypervigilant about her mood and mental health challenges that weighs parents down; it's the wishing that things were different. . . . Resentment, not the intense care they must provide their child, is the parents' greatest stressor and source of pain." ---Laurie Wallin

Parents of specials needs children are exhausted. They've done all the research, consulted all the experts, joined support groups, gotten counseling, fought for the best life for their children. Often just caring for their children's needs and attempting to maintain a home maxes out parents' mental, emotional, and spiritual reserves.

Laurie Wallin knows firsthand the difficulties of this journey. With Get Your Joy Back, she steps forward to make a bold, audacious claim: in the midst of this long-term, intense task, it is still possible to have an abundant life, full of joy. The key to radically changing daily life and restoring joy to the weary is forgiveness. Wallin gives parents a lifeline to find that restoration, pulling them back to shore when they feel like they're drowning.

This book is full of practical, biblical insights and strategies to shed the resentments that leave Christian special-needs parents themselves spiritually, emotionally, and socially drained. Wallin meets readers right where they are, sugar coating nothing, but addressing issues with honesty, humor, and---above all---hope.

MY REVIEW:

I could not put this book down! It is so well written and Laurie draws you into her story, and the stories of others. She has so many great ideas and the book helped me to see that there is joy in the life that we lead.

This book is written for the parent who has special needs children. Laurie shares how you're always having to be aware and it's hard to find those times of rest and joy. She explains how isolated you can feel because your situation is not the "normal" that others expect. Endless doctor appointments, finding the right doctors and therapists, and dealing with extended family members who may or may not understand, all add to the pressure a special needs parent feels.

I am not the parent of a special needs child, but I found so much helpful information in this book! I know that if I found it helpful, the special needs family is going to gain so much from it! I could relate to the stress that Laurie feels because of my own health issues and how they have changed my life. None of what Laurie goes through is of her own making and neither are my health issues but we have to cope and learn to live in the moment and find joy where we can.

The chapter that really resonated with me was about the church and how we can expect them to be there for us when others aren't. After all, we are all Christ followers, full of love for one another, and they will be there for us through these day to day tough times. Unfortunately, as I have found out and so has Laurie and many of her friends, the church is sometimes one of the hurtful places that adds to our stress. It helped me so much to read this chapter as I have had many of the same hurts and situations as these families. Laurie shares how to get past this hurt and move past the expectations.

This book would be so helpful to friends and family of special needs families. It gives such a clear picture of what these parents deal with on a daily basis and how, we as friends and family, can be helpful to them. This is just a wonderful book all the way around and I highly recommend it!

Miss Mitzi and the New Toy

Mitzi got a new toy and she just loves it! My son actually bought this toy for his pug but she didn't like it at all but Mitzi adores it. I bought it from my son (that way I didn't have to go and get one at the store) and he can find another toy for his dog that she'll like.

Here's a few pictures of Mitzi with her new pink dog

She loves all the squeakers in this toy. There's one in each leg and a big one in the tummy. She has such a good time with this toy even though the toy is bigger than she is!

She also has a quirky thing at bedtime. She has a little squeaky stuffed bone and a little pink bone made out of a soft plastic and she has to have these in her bed or she gets very restless. Every day she takes them out of her bed - all over the house - so at bedtime my hubby and I are looking all over for these two little toys so she can go to sleep. LOL I know! She's just a teeny bit spoiled but I love her so and I don't mind these little quirks. Miss Mitzi is such a joy!

Book Review - Beyond All Dreams

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Is bringing the truth to light worth risking all they've ever dreamed for their futures?

Anna O'Brien leads a predictable and quiet life as a map librarian at the illustrious Library of Congress until she stumbles across the baffling mystery of a ship disappeared at sea. Thwarted in her attempts to uncover information, her determination outweighs her shyness and she turns to a dashing congressman for help.

Luke Callahan was one of the nation's most powerful congressmen before his promising career was shadowed in scandal. Eager to share in a new cause and intrigued by the winsome librarian, he joins forces with Anna to solve the mystery of the lost ship. Opposites in every way, Anna and Luke are unexpectedly drawn to each other despite the strict rules forbidding Anna from any romantic entanglements with members of Congress.

From the gilded halls of the Capitol where powerful men shape the future of the nation, to the scholarly archives of the nation's finest library, Anna and Luke are soon embroiled in secrets much bigger and more perilous than they ever imagined. Is bringing the truth to light worth risking all they've ever dreamed for their futures?

MY REVIEW:

I always hate giving books a bad review, but I'm afraid on this book, I must. I tried very hard to like this story, but the character of Luke Callahan was so grating to me, I just couldn't enjoy the book.

The book is set during the late 1800's and Anna O'Brien is a librarian in the Library of Congress. Her job includes helping the congressmen with maps and research. She loves her job, as I can well understand, as it sounds like a wonderful job to me. She is also preparing the library to be moved into it's new, beautiful building, which keeps her busy.

Anna's father was killed when his ship, The Culpepper, sank. There is an official report regarding this, but Anna feels certain that there's something more to the sinking and she is determined to find out what. This opens a dangerous situation for her that is very intriguing.

Luke Callahan is a senator with a bad temper to those in his private life, including Anna. As a senator, though, he has more liberal, conciliatory attitude with other countries and situations. He also has voted against the new library every time the bill came up, yet he uses and enjoys the library himself on a daily basis. I found these attitudes and personality traits of his extremely irritating. I thought perhaps as the book went along, he would grow and mature, but not really. I disliked him so much, he ruined the book for me.

What I did enjoy was Anna and the historical information of the era and the history of the Library of Congress. I found Anna's character to be very likable and I really liked her tenacity and her loyalty.

For it's historical storyline and the character of Anna, I give his book 2 out of 5 stars. I had a hard time getting through this book and really didn't enjoy it much.

Impatient to Heal!

I'm still healing, which is a good thing, but I'm very impatient! Once the stitches came out, I've became suddenly full of impatience about them healing completely - and now! lol The biggest delay to my healing is my tiredness. I know this is totally normal, after the year I had. I also can't walk very well or very far, even around my house, but it does make for very difficult days when I want to get things done! I know God is really teaching me about patience and trusting in Him alone. I've had to fully rely on Him through this whole year and it has strengthened my faith in many ways. It's also teaching me to have grace for myself when I can't do very much because of my leg, my knee, and the fact I can't walk much.

I've had a lot of tired days, but on the days that I feel good, I've been working on my art journal and my faith journal. I've had to give myself some grace because I'm already behind on both. I'm part of an online group for both journals where we get weekly prompts for our journals. In the past, I would have been full of anxiety about being behind, but now I just relax and do the best I can.

My faith journal is in the drawing stage right now so I don't have a picture to show of it right now, but will share it very soon.

I was working on my shawl when I realized, with horror, that I didn't have enough of the yarn I was using. Hubby took me and my sample to Hobby Lobby, where I had bought it, but the color lot was totally different and I couldn't find anything that matched even remotely. I ended up choosing an aqua color but that didn't look good at all. So back to Hobby Lobby where I chose a dark purple. I think it's going to look quite lovely, but it's a good reminder to myself to always make sure I buy enough of the yarn in the right dye-lot! Here's a picture of it so far.

I'll put the gorgeous border on in the next few days and then share a picture of it. I'm really hoping the dark purple will look as good as I think it will.

Counting Our Blessings - Link Up!

Hello dear readers and gentle friends - I'm still exhausted but still healing. My little wounds are still there and I'm still nursing them along, but they are looking better and I'm hoping that I will be able to stop bandaging them in about a week or so. I'm very conscientious about not having any more problems with these incisions/wounds so I'll probably end up keeping them bandaged longer than need be, but that's okay! I just want to heal!!

Let's get started on counting our blessings:

4.  I'm still working on my art journal. I am behind on the prompts, but that's okay. I'm not stressing out about this and working on it as I can. The prompt for these pages was to use gesso. There was also a quote that they had for the week, but I didn't care for the quote so used a favorite Scripture instead.

I used watercolors, water soluble crayons, gesso and a marker for the lettering. I had great fun with this one and will start working on the next page as I get the energy.

5.  I went to the thrift store with my sons a few days ago and had a great time. I'm always on the look out for anything poodle related. I collect poodles and I also collect Boyd's Bears (the figurines and stuffed ones) so I really hit the jackpot that day. Look what I found

Isn't it adorable? I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it. I didn't know that Boyd's Bears made poodles so it was such a sweet surprise. I had such a fun day with my boys and this was just the cherry on top.

6.  My youngest son came home the other day and gave me this.

Isn't it beautiful? I love anything by Marjolein Bastin and this just touched my heart so much! I thought it was so sweet that my son thought of me and cheered me up with something I love so much - the cross. I already have it hanging on my wall where I can see it every day. My son is such a special blessing!!
