MY REVIEW:
I was given this movie from FishFlix to watch and review. I am really glad that I can share my thoughts on this movie!
This movie focuses on Red, the teenage son of a woman police officer. She is a single mother doing her best to raise her two sons but her oldest son is proving to be quite a handful. His best friend is someone that does drugs and is always looking for a way to make easy money. Of course, this is never a good combination.
Red has a girlfriend who has it out for Red and is not happy that his sister is dating him. The brother is part of a dangerous gang and when the opportunity arises for Red to make some money and hurt the brother at the same time, he jumps at the chance. This starts his downward spiral.
From here you watch as Red's life goes out of control. You can tell that he has a really good heart but he doesn't know how to handle what is happening around him. His Mom tries everything to help him, including taking him to church, but he's just not receptive to anything.
There were a couple of scenes in the movie where I rolled my eyes. At the hospital, one of the characters is fighting for his life and he is attacked by the gang leader brother. The machines are going crazy and yet no one arrives to see what's going on. Not realistic at all. In another scene, the mother is meeting the son secretly in the cemetery at night yet she leaves her lights on her patrol car on for all to see. Seriously? She didn't have a flashlight?
Despite this, it is a movie with a compelling story to tell. One thing I really liked was that because this movie was from FishFlix, any bad language was silenced. There wasn't anything horrible to see, although, I wouldn't recommend young children seeing this because of the realistic drug usage. I liked, though, that I didn't have to worry about hearing or seeing something that would be offensive to me or my family.
My favorite thing about the movie was the actor, Steven Sutherland, who played Red. He was believable and played this part really well. I think he will really be someone to watch for in other movies.
You can see more about this film by visiting ASHES OF EDEN where you can learn more about the movie and the actors.
