Book Review - Without Warning

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Katie Singleton, a partner with the Elite Guardians Protection Agency, stumbles upon her next assignment quite by accident. Spotting blue lights at a familiar restaurant, she stops to investigate, only to discover that owner Daniel Matthews has become the target of someone who will go to any lengths to put him out of business.

Daniel might be concerned, but he's not convinced that a bodyguard--and a female one at that--is necessary. A new attack and his niece's urgings are enough to make him reconsider. He and Katie must figure out who's behind the intimidation and threats--before a would-be killer strikes again.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Lynette Eason grew up in Greenville, SC. After graduating from the University of South Carolina with a Business Degree she used for a very short time, she moved to Spartanburg, SC to attend Converse College where she obtained her Masters degree in Education. She started her teaching career at the South Carolina School for the deaf and blind. In 1996, she met the man she would marry—the boy next door!

She is married to Jack Eason, who speaks, leads worship, and consults ministries around the country. They have two teenage children.

MY REVIEW:

I am a huge Lynette Eason fan and I have enjoyed every one of her mysteries. This book  is no exception! This is part of the "Elite Guardians" series but you won't be lost in this book if you didn't read the first one (do read the first one, though. It was excellent!)

Katie basically stumbles into this new job of protecting Daniel and his niece. It all starts with the discovery of a body in the basement of one of his restaurants and escalates from there. There is fire in another of his properties and this brings up Katie having to face her fears. She used to be a fire investigator but a tragic situation made her leave that profession. This becomes part of the plot.

The story has so much suspense - with twists and turns - you're never sure who the bad guy is. That's how her other book in this series was and I love that. I don't want to figure out the bad guy too soon. As with her other book, I didn't know until she revealed it!

There is a touch of romance and a whole lot of mystery with this story. The characters are great and you feel like you truly know them. I just loved this book and I know you will, too. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
