Book Review - Buried Memories by Carol J. Post

ABOUT THE BOOK:

After her broken engagement, Nicki Jackson hoped her move to Cedar Key would give her a fresh start—instead she quickly learns someone's out to destroy her. Are the attacks tied to her mother's recently reopened murder case…or to the nightmares Nicki's beginning to suspect are actually hidden memories? With the threats against her escalating, former soldier Tyler Brant vows to keep Nicki safe. He refuses to lose the woman who's swiftly becoming more than a childhood crush. But when danger circles closer, is Nicki's traumatic past better left forgotten…or are her memories the key to something far more sinister?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

From medical secretary to court reporter to property manager to owner of a special-events decorating company, Carol J. Post's résumé reads as if she hasn't yet decided what she wants to be when she grows up. But one thing that has remained constant through the years is her love of writing. She started as a child composing poetry for family and friends, then graduated to articles for religious and children's publications. Now she pens fun, fast-paced inspirational romance and romantic suspense stories. Her books have been nominated for an RT Reviewers' Choice Best Book award and selected as an RT Top Pick. When Carol isn't writing, she enjoys sailing, hiking, camping---almost anything outdoors. She also plays the piano and sings with her music-minister husband. Their two grown daughters and their grandkids live too far away for her liking, so she now pours all her nurturing into taking care of a fat and sassy black cat and a highly spoiled dachshund.

MY REVIEW:

This is a wonderful mystery that I literally couldn't put down! Once started, I had to finish it.

Nicki is starting over after a broken engagement and has settled in a small community of Cedar Key. She lives in a little home that backs to the woods and is on the outer edges of town, which is great if you're wanting privacy, but not so great if someone is threatening you - which someone is.

Tyler is living next door with his brother. He has his own issues after coming back from the war and trying to deal with his nightmares and other issues that plague him. He is out walking his brother's dog when he bumps into Nicki and is immediately smitten with her.

When he finds out about the threats she's having, he tries to be there for her as much as he can as well as trying to figure out who it is that is plaguing her. There are several people that are candidates for threatening her and I was trying to figure out the whole time who I thought it was. I love a book where I not only can't figure out who the antagonist is but am shocked when I find out. This book fits that bill!

I really loved this book. The characters were very well developed (I felt as if I knew them), the mystery and chills were intriguing, and it was a real page turner. If you enjoy a good romantic mystery, I highly recommend this book! I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
