ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

GINA GRAHAM is an illustrator and art teacher in Chattanooga, TN. She loves to create joyful, uplifting art to offer the hope found in God’s love. Art is restorative to Gina, helping her thrive through injury and illness. In 2005 she had an accident that instantly took the vision from her right eye. Though she was teaching art at the time, her bigger dream was to have an art career. Realizing that nothing is guaranteed, she started drawing toward that goal the day after her accident, and hasn’t stopped. Her retina was damaged but Gina regained all but a tiny blind spot in her vision. Gina is also a cancer survivor. In 2013 journaling and doodling around scripture helped her thrive through the months of complications after surgery. Many of the images in this book came from that precious time of healing.

MY REVIEW:

When I read the author's biography, I could well understand why this book resonated with me so much! It has been such a source of joy during my own time of recuperation from my own surgery and complications. Because she has been through so many health issues, her illustrations really do speak of happy things!

This is a lovely hard-back coloring book and journal.  I really love that there is so much area for journaling! So many times, there's only a few lines to record your thoughts but this book gives you a full page to write on, with lines, which is great.

The illustrations are so joyful and fun! Here are a couple of pages of my own coloring.

Don't these just make you smile?! I love that all the illustrations are fun to color, yet not so intricate that it's stressful trying to color them in. The author found the perfect balance of great illustration without too much complication. I have had so much fun coloring these in and they have been really relaxing.  You can also see how much area there is for writing on the second page. These are throughout the book so it's great for recording your thoughts or writing out Scripture.

This would make such a great Christmas gift for anyone on your list that loves to color and journal. It would also make a great gift for someone recovering from illness or in the hospital. Add some colored pencils or markers and you've got the perfect gift!

I love this book! I've had a lot of coloring books but this one is by far my favorite! It has blessed me so much with the happy, fun illustrations and all the area for writing. It's just the perfect combination, in my opinion. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
