Book Review - Lead Your Family Like Jesus

ABOUT THE BOOK:

(Focus on the Family/Tyndale) - Does your family need a five-star general at the helm? A psychologist? A referee? Ken Blanchard, best-selling co-author of The One Minute Manager and Lead Like Jesus, points to a better role model: the Son of God. Joined by veteran parents and authors Phil Hodges and Tricia Goyer, renowned business mentor Blanchard shows how every family member benefits when parents take the reins as servant-leaders. Moms and dads will see themselves in a whole new light-as life-changers who get their example, strength, and joy from following Jesus at home. This user-friendly book's practical principles and personal stories mark the path to a truly Christ-centered family, where integrity, love, grace, self-sacrifice, and forgiveness make all the difference.

MY REVIEW:

I really wish I would have had this book in my possession when my son's were little. What an amazing book this truly is! The great thing is, though, this book has so much that I was able to apply to, not only my family and my adult sons, but in my relationships with others!

This book is written from the perspective of the three different authors, which I really like. Each one shared personal stories from their life and they wrote from different perspectives. This book is really like sitting with these amazing, godly people and learning from them.

The favorite part of the book for me was Chapter 5. It's title is, "To Do Or Not To Do" and it spoke volumes to me regarding how I spend my time - especially for and with the Lord. There's also a section on Family Values and it really made me sit and think about what our family core values were - and also what my top priorities are. I thought this chapter was incredibly important for all families, and individuals, to really look at what we're basing our values on and how we're doing. I thought it was especially exciting to figure out what our "Family Label" is. Once you know this, you can make decisions and live out your values based on this label. How simple yet powerful!

This really is such a powerful book that every family should have, no matter how old your children or grand children are. It really made me think about changes I can make in my family for the better - that we as a family can live more intentional for Jesus - and isn't that what it's really about? Every family should have this book!
