Book Review - Stress Test

ABOUT THE BOOK:

They may not have enough evidence to convict him, but they have enough to ruin his life.
Dr. Matt Newman thought he was leaving his life in private practice for a better one in academic medicine. But the kidnappers who attacked him as he left his last shift in the ER have no such plans-they just want him dead. Bound and in the trunk of his car, Matt's only thought is escape. He does so, but at a price: a head injury that lands him in the ICU . . . where he awakens to discover he's being charged with murder.
Sandra Murray is a fiery, redheaded lawyer who swore she was done with doctors. But when Matt calls, she knows she can't walk away from defending someone who is truly innocent.
Matt's career is going down the drain. His freedom and perhaps his life may be next. But with the police convinced he's a murderer and the kidnappers still trying to finish what they started, finding the truth-and the faith to keep going-will be the toughest stress test Matt has ever endured.

MY REVIEW:

I love nothing more than a good mystery and this book had it all! The book starts right out with action and it never really stops until the last page! I also liked that I never really figured out why this was happening to Dr. Matt Newman or who was behind it until it was revealed. That's another good mark of a good mystery - if I can't figure it out. I have read so many mysteries in my life time that I can usually figure out "who done it" but this one had me guessing throughout the whole book. When it finally was revealed I was amazed and surprised!

I really enjoyed the characters of Matt Newman and his lawyer, Sandra Murray. Both have just come out of difficult relationships and both have some heartache. Sandra is a believing Christian who walks out her faith. Matt, on the other hand, knows who the Lord is but has no real relationship with Him. I really liked how the author realistically showed Matt reaching out to the Lord and coming to his own understanding and relationship with Him.

This is definitely a good verses evil type plot line and the evil men are truly evil. You'll see there are some surprises, too, about who is on the right side of the law and who is not.  There is also enough romance to keep it interesting without taking anything away from the mysterious circumstances, which is what holds your attention.

I highly recommend this book - especially if you enjoy a good mystery! This one is defnitely great!
