Book Review - Invisible by Jennifer Rothschild

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Believe it or not, it’s your story too. God chose you and loves you.

If you wander off, He will find you.
If you are afraid, He will reassure you.
If you are broken, He will restore you.
If you are ashamed, He will cover you.
If you give up on Him, He will not give up on you.

No matter where you are, God sees who you are and loves you faithfully. Through the story of Hosea and Gomer, God tenderly reaches out to you and whispers, “My daughter, my name and nature are love. My name makes you lovely. Because I am worthy, I make you worthy. I am here to remind you of who you are. You are never invisible to me.”

MY REVIEW:

I know I had heard the story of Hosea and Gomer at some point in my life, but I had forgotten about it until I had the privilege of reading this book. What a story it is!

Hosea marries Gomer and she is not exactly an upstanding woman! She is an adulteress who is looking outside of her marriage for validation. As Jennifer shares, sometimes we are all looking outside our relationship with Jesus for validation when, in reality, He is all the validation we need.

She shares how we are cherished by God, loved with an ever-lasting love by Him, and that He loves us just the way we are. Most important, we are not invisible to God!

I really love the way Jennifer writes. She takes the Scriptures very seriously yet writes with humor throughout to make the story of Gomer come alive to us. This makes it very timely despite the fact that this story happened a long time ago. The Bible is just as timely today as it was when these things happened.

We all have times when we feel invisible to those around us. We all want to feel loved and cherished and the thing is, we are! God loves us and cherishes us but we have to remember that we must be in relationship with Him! This is illustrated perfectly by how Gomer actually leaves Hosea, who loves her deeply, and returns to her sad lifestyle. How many of us turn our back on the One that truly loves us to pursue things that will never satisfy?

I really loved this book and it really impacted me. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
