ABOUT THE BOOK:
After three years on a whaling voyage, Henry Macy returns to Nantucket to news that his grandmother has passed, bequeathing her vast fortune to him and his sister, Hitty. And it was truly vast. But Lillian Coffin was no fool. The inheritance comes with a steep cost, including when each should marry and whom--a Quaker in good standing, of course. But if they relinquish the inheritance, it all goes to Tristram Macy, their father's thieving business partner.
As Hitty and Henry seek a way to satisfy the will's conditions, they'll be faced with obstacles on every side--and it may be that Lillian Coffin will have the last word after all.

MY REVIEW:
This is book three of the Nantucket Legacy series. Although I have not read the first two books I was never lost. After reading this, however, I definitely want to read book one and two.
The story moves between two different time periods bringing a background of understanding to the family of Hitty and Henry. They are twins who must decide if they want to inherit their grandmother's vast estate, thus becoming quite wealthy but changing their lives forever. There is also a condition to them accepting this inheritance, which is very interesting.
This is based mainly on the Quaker faith and we see how they have so many man made rules that guide but also weigh on them. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the historical facts to life for us and giving us an insight to these time periods and these people.
This is a story of those who look at life as a blessing and being a blessing to other versus those who only want to rule over others and become a curse to others. I enjoyed seeing Hitty and Henry move forward with their lives in a way that would be a blessing. I liked their strengths - one being very bookish and the other more artistic. There were many fun moments as well as thoughtful moments throughout this book.
I really enjoyed this historical novel and would highly recommend it anyone who enjoys a good story. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
